Yucaipa has strange phenomenons, two I will mention: GRAVITY HILL.. I have been there and yes, your car does roll uphill backwards. It is said that the spirits of the dead, push the vehicles up the hill.
The second is: THE WATCHERS.. Now this story goes, no matter what time, day or night, no matter what day, when you pass by their house, they will come outside. Who are they? Well, no one really knows, we believe it is a family, I was told there is an elderly woman in a wheel chair and that there are two men.
Being the naturally curious person that I am, I decided to go. Now we had to look at the GPS to get there and, right now, I could not draw you a map, it is a blank. However there are videos that have the location of Date St. So we go.
While sitting at dinner, we started to talk about the odd things in the Inland Empire and there are many, when my friends told me about The Watchers. I laughed, I know nosey people that watch everything too, but they told me, this was a whole different thing. I had to go and see. We left Redlands, about 15 miles from yucaipa, I followed behind my friend in my car, we exited Yucaipa Blvd. We made a series of turns, mind you it was after midnight. We turned onto one street and my friend stopped, my cellphone rang and I was told to look over to the left, just keep watching.. We started to roll slow, and we came upon this house, I couldn't see the color well but, it appeared to be dark, looking at one of the videos, the house is red, like brick, the garage door is silver metal and there is what looks like a boarded up window.. I was staring at the house, and I heard what sounded like a bolt being released, as if on a door, and there they were.. Two of them, two men, one came out to the yard and the other was at the door. I was staring so hard I almost rear ended my friend. We drove down the street and turned around to make another pass. Now, one had a flash light, he shone it directly towards the cars, the other had what appeared to be a shot gun. They were wearing, overalls. I was glad to drive away from their line of sight.. I tried to tell my friends that they were probably just making sure no one broke into their house.. my friends laughed.. About a week later, we went back, almost the same time, yes, there they were.
This little tale, is basically some information about something that wouldn't be strange in itself, had they peeped out of the window or maybe slept at night. But for them to actually come outside, I have to say it spooked me. I never did see the old lady but, when you pass by, the two men come out. They say sometimes they will actually throw things at the cars.
Several of the videos I have looked at most of the people are screaming. One video, the people in the car were talking to them. Truly it never crossed my mind to engage them in conversation.. So now, that is it, I am done. I think about the Watchers sometime, I wonder if their actions are the product of mental illness.. I don't know, we may never know.
But if you drive down a street called Date, if you find it, rest assured, they will be WATCHING.
