I went to the Waterfront Grille for the first time last week. The restaurant is located right on the water at the address 36 Homers Wharf, New Bedford, Massachusetts. The restaurant has a nice view of New Bedford Harbor, including some of the local fishing boats. During the evening hours this provides a great opportunity to catch the sunset while enjoying your meal.

The inside of the restaurant seems to have been recently remodeled with nice hardwood floors and new tables and chairs that are in good condition. The bar is of decent size and if you are just coming for a drink it shouldn't be too difficult to order a drink quickly. The bar also has two large flat-screen televisions that were playing sports.

We were seated without a wait and soon after introduced to our friendly waitress who immediately put in our drink orders. As far as alcoholic beverages go, the bar has a good list of cocktails and martinis. They also have four or five beers on tap and a list of bottled beer as well. I had the seasonal beer on tap which was Sam Adams Summer.

For an appetizer we ordered the calamari plate which cost $9. Most appetizers on the menu range from about $6 to $10. The calamari was tender and cooked just right. On top of the calamari was a glaze made of up two different sauces. I thought it was delicious. It is a good size appetizer for three or four people.

The menu has a good variety of entrees to choose from. The restaurant specializes in fresh seafood, including scallops, lobster, swordfish, salmon and tuna. In addition, there are other dishes to choose from including steak, pasta and scampi. The entrees range in price from roughly $12 - $30.

For an entree I had the lobster mac and cheese dish because it was recommended by the waitress. This dish consisted of shell pasta and pieces of lobster in a cheese sauce. The dish was a good size portion and definitely enough to quench my appetite. The pasta and the cheese sauce itself was very good. However, my only complaint would be with the lobster. The lobster wasn't very tender and some pieces were quite difficult to chew. This made the dish a disappointment overall. The price of the lobster mac and cheese depends on the market price of lobster. When I was there, it went for $18.99.

Overall, the service and atmosphere were very good. The food could have been a little better but next time I will try a different entree.
