The Wave

Janis I. Monroe
Beautiful...
Powerful...
Destructive...
These are the forces of the wave

When the moon awakens from its restful sleep
It commands the ocean to swell
Resulting in high tides
The water then partners up with the high winds aloft
And as they dance gracefully together
The wave is born

It reaches for the sky
Like a drowning victim signaling for help
After reaching a mountainous height
It breaks into a massive curve
As gravity takes a harsh grip
It rolls over itself
As it surges its way toward shore

The closer to the warm sand it becomes
The less force it has to harness
Its strength has now dispersed
As the earth has given it a fatal kiss
