The New Way to Make Meth

What Will They Think of Next

If you thought you had hear it all about meth, think again. How would you feel about the fact that in Anderson County Tennessee people were caught making meth out of human urine. Yes, that is correct, urine.

According to Volunteer Television in Knoxville Tennessee, Anderson County authorities say that these type of meth labs are beginning to grow in Tennessee. So far authorities have busted three including the most recent one. However, the last one was the largest yet.

After an anonymous tip the Anderson County Authorities went to the home and found 241 (yes, two hundred forty one) two liter bottles and 17 gallon jugs filled with urine.

Apparently, the makers and users would urinate in the jugs so they could use it later to make the meth. People would bring their urine back and trade it for more meth.

Just to clean up the waste from the site of the meth lab, authorities had to call in a Haz-Mat Team.

Volunteer Television also reported that when a known meth user enters jail, the other prisoners will actually get the person's urine and process it so that they can consume it just to get high.

This just shows what users will do to get high.

Today methamphetamine is second only to alcohol and marijuana abuse/use. According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, some states have seen confiscation of dangerous materials and laboratories to make drugs increase fivefold.

Methamphetamine is an extremely addictive drug and can have devastating affects on the central nervous system. Use of meth can cause paranoia along with extremely violent behavior and out-of-control rages.

According to the D.E.A. the making of just one pound of meth can produce five to six pounds of hazardous waste, therefore contaminating the property surrounding the site of the lab. In Arizona, ranchers have actually reported strange and suspicious deaths of their cattle in areas downstream from meth labs.

To clean up these sites, local jurisdictions have to spend thousands of dollars.

In 2005 President Bush signed the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005 which bans the over-the-counter sale of any cold medication containing pseudoephedrine, one of the prominent ingredients in the making of methamphetamine. This act requires anyone purchasing medications with pseudoephedrine to present photo identification and give a signature. The store is then required to keep this information for as long as two years.

If you know of or suspect someone of making meth, please notify the authorities as soon as possible. There are some police and sheriff departments that have a tip line on the internet. This is some dangerous (the making and the consumption of) and powerful stuff and is nothing to ignore.
