Josh Howard poured in 47 as Dallas bested Utah. Deron Williams did his part with 41 points. Big Al Jefferson scored 32 and grabbed 20 boards as Minnesota beat Phoenix. Chris Bosh returned to action. So did LeBron. T.J. Ford was carried away on a stretcher following a flagrant foul. Jamaal Tinsley was involved in a shooting outside a hotel. The Celtics improved to 18-2. Michael Redd was one assist away from a triple-double. Penny Hardaway got kicked to the curb. The Clippers waived Ruben Patterson. Atlanta's Al Horford was suspended a game for his hit on Ford.
Colorado's Milan Hejduk had a hat trick of goals and assists. Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg netted a hat trick against Minnesota. Philly had two guys net hat trick in the same game. Joffrey Lupul(plus 3 assists) and R.J. Umberger against Pittsburgh. Calgary's Jarome Iginla and Kristian Huselius netted hat tricks against Tampa Bay. Dion Phaneuf had five assists in that game. This week's shutouts: Detroit's Dominik Hasek vs. Minnesota, Florida's Tomas Vokoun vs. the Islanders, San Jose's Evgeni Nabokov vs. Phoenix. New York Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist vs. New Jersey. Ottawa's Martin Gerber vs. Carolina. Florida's Tomas Vokoun vs. St. Louis. Nashville signed David Legwand to a six-year, $27 million deal. Atlanta claimed Mark Recchi off waivers. Montreal will be without C Bryan Smoinski for six weeks because of a sprained knee and W Steve Begin for a couple weeks because of a separated shoulder. San Jose will be without Jonathan Cheechoo (groin) and Jeremy Roenick (knee) for a week or more. The Bruins will be without Manny Fernandez for the rest of the year following knee surgery. Pittsburgh G Marc-Andre Fleury could miss a couple months with a sprained knee. Carolina's Scott Walker got suspeneded one game for head-butting Ottawa's Mike Fisher.
Miguel Tejada was traded to Houston. Eric Gagne signed a one-year deal with Milwaukee. Pittsburgh traded reliever Salomon Torres for minor leaguers. LaTroy Hawkins signed a one-year deal with the Yankees. Paul Lo Duca signed with Washington. Colorado signed Aaron Cook to a three-year, $30 million deal. David Segui admitted to using steroids and HGH during his career. San Diego signed Tadahito Iguchi. The Cubs signed OF Kosuke Fukudome to a four-year deal worth $48 million. The Twins signed SS Adam Everett. The Cubs declined an offer to Mark Pryor making him a free agent. Cliff Floyd signed with Tampa Bay. The Mitchell Report was released. A bunch of names were mentioned. I'm sure many more were omitted. Aaron Rowand signed a five-year, $60 million deal with San Francisco. David Eckstein signed a one-year deal with Toronto. The cheap Minnesota Twins signed their yearly garbage free agent in Adam Everett.
Florida's Tim Tebow became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy. Darren McFadden won the Sporting News player of the year. Tennessee extended coach Phillip Fulmer's contract through 2012. Paul Johnson left Navy to coach Georgia Tech. Ken Niumatalolo will take over for Johnson. Rutgers coach Greg Schiano spurned Michigan. Texas A&M will buy out football Dennis Franchione. Can you imagine being paid $4.4 million not to work? Move over Nick Saban. We have a new gutless wonder. Bobby Petrino quit on the Atlanta Falcons to take over the Arkansas gig. Paul Wulff is the new coach at Washington State, his alma mater. Southern Mississippi hired Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Larry Fedora as its new coach. Louisville RB Anthony Allen will transfer next year.

JP - I'd say all the people that ripped Houston for not taking Bush need too. Mario Williams is proving that he is worthy of that #1 pick while Bush is proving he can't be an every down back.
