Get Your Weird News Chuckle of the Week!

Karen Bishop
Here's your weird news for the week of August 3-7. This weeks edition was delayed due to a little person named Tristan. He's one month old and he's my grandson. Now, on to the weird news.

Another Bad Mom

Just when you think you have read it all, another one appears. I classify this as an eye rolling and a "what the heck was she thinking?" story.

Karen Koch, 37, of Fairbanks, Alaska let her son, 7, drive the car while she was passed out in the passenger seat. District Court Judge Raymond Funk told her, "While life as a single mother is hard, turning to alcohol and making stupid decision puts the public at risk, puts you at risk and puts your child at risk." That's telling her Judge Funk!

She has pled guilty to one count of reckless endangerment and in return prosecutors dropped the charge of allowing an unauthorized person to drive. She was sentenced Wednesday to six months in jail, probation for three years, and has to go to AA three times a week for six months.

I think she should be sentenced far harsher than that for allowing a small child to drive, even if it was, as she told the trooper, from a nearby stop sign to their home. She also has three previous convictions on her record for drunk driving. There is no excuse and she gets my Bad Mom of the Year award #3!

No Hypnotism Here

From South Korea this week, we have a sneaky hypnotist. The man, identified only as Park, went on a blind date with a 27-year-old woman. Park, 32, suggested hypnotizing her when they met last August through a matchmaking agency.

It took awhile, but she finally agreed. Park chanted, "Black hole! You will plunge deeper into a trace. You will feel thrilled all over your body and if my hand touches your body, you will feel intense pleasure."

He's a confident man isn't he? She had her eyes closed but was not hypnotized in the least little bit. He leaned in for a kiss, she pushed him away and then filed sexual harrassment charges against him. The Seoul Central District Court said they fined him 3 million won, or $2,453 US. I hope he learns something from this. He's no hypnotist!

What Was He Thinking?

This week in Oakland, California a man who locked himself out of his apartment came up with a brilliant idea. He decided that to get in, it would be a great idea to rappel from the roof of his apartment building. The unnamed man at 2 a.m found a cord, but things didn't go quite as he intended them to.

Instead of going all Mission Impossible smooth, he fell four stories to the ground. His condition is not known, but I sure hope he's okay.

Does He Think He's A Dog?

I guess maybe he does! A 26-year-old man in Three Rivers, Michigan decided to "harrass" a police dog. Police officers had responded to a call at an apartment complex about a suspicious situation. The man was not the suspicious one, just a guy who was there.

One of the police responders was a canine unit. In the statement the police gave, they said he, "began to torment" the police dog who was in the patrol car. He started barking at the dog and shouting at it. I'm not an expert on canine units, but doing something like that will cause them to become agressive. Guess what happened? Yep, the dog became quite excited and aggressive.

Mr. Barks A Lot was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct and released on bond.

She let a seven year old drive? Really?! Sucky, child-endangering moms just, well, suck. You could title this "America's Stupidest Citizens." :)
