Order in the Court!
If you find yourself going to court, you better make sure you're wide awake and well rested. Clifton Williams, 33, of Richton Park, Illinois, was put in jail on July 23 after being found in contempt of court for yawning during court proceedings. He was released on Thursday after three weeks in jail.
Mr. Williams was in court because his cousin was being sentenced on a drug charge. A prosecutor described Clifton's yawn as "loud and boisterous." Well, excuse him Mr. Prosecutor! Not everyone who yawns does so silently.
Mr. Williams stood before Judge Daniel Rozak and had to endure a lecture. Judge Rozak informed him he wasn't in custody for yawning but for making a sound "that was offensive to the court." Channeling John Stossel here, "Give me a break!"
Avon Calling?
It's not the friendly Avon lady ringing the doorbell it's a naked 6 foot 7 inch tall, 250 pound man. Peter Allen Steele, 38, kind of stands out being so tall and naked. Residents in Woodside and Portola Valley in California, called police to report a huge naked man outside their home after he rang the doorbell.
Sheriff's deputies saw him in a car but he gunned it down Interstate 280. The chase continued to Sand Hill Road where Peter went off onto the side of the road and ended up with flat tires. He kept going until driving on the rims stopped the car. Wearing his birthday suit and a pair of sneakers he fled on foot.
When deputies caught up with him he resisted arrest, so the they shocked him with a Taser, then a bean-bag gun. Finally he was put into cuffs and arrested. He pled not guilty on Tuesday in San Mateo County Superior Court. Mr. Steele has a list of felony convictions for stalking, evading police and making threats. Well, he just added some more. He's clearly one of those people who will never learn.
Don't Make the Judge Mad
In Maryland this week, Charles County Judge Robert C. Nalley let the air out of a tire on Jean Washington's car. Why? She parked in a restricted area near the courthouse. She is part of a cleaning crew at the courthouse. The incident baffled her because she didn't know she couldn't park there and said she had never received any warnings.
Judge Nalley isn't apologizing though. He is tired of people parking in the restricted area. He told station WUSA he let the air out of the tire because people are ignoring notes that are left informing them they're parking illegally.
Judge Nalley, you should be ashamed taking the law into your own hands. Try picking up the phone and calling the tow truck company or something. I'm sure there is some kind of procedure in place for illegal parking. If there isn't, be a trail blazer and help make some rules!
Lesson Never Learned
In Nebraska, an unnamed woman didn't learn her lesson the first time. She was pulled over at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday for allegedly making an illegal turn and swerving down the street. The officer said her blood-alcohol level was .19, more than twice the legal limit. She was taken to a detox center and cited for suspicion of driving under the influence and negligent driving. Suspicion? She was drunk!
For some reason she was determined to get herself deeper in trouble. It doesn't state what she was doing out and about again two hours later, but the same officer who stopped her the first time saw her behind the wheel of her boyfriend's car. Her blood-alcohol level was tested and found to be .154 this time.
This time she was arrested and charged with DUI, negligent driving and thrown in the slammer. I am very thankful to that alert officer. That woman is lucky she didn't hurt or kill someone that night. Let's hope she won't be getting behind the wheel again anytime soon.

There are definitely some crazy people in this world.
Unfortunately drunk driving in many communities means you get a ticket, detox for a few hours and they let you go..this dumb lady could have killed someone!
