Get Your Weird News Chuckle of the Day!

Once again it's time for the weird news weekly review. This weeks eye rolling news is for June 22-25. If you missed last weeks weird news, it can be found here.

Mom of the Year-NOT!

In Fort Smith, Arkansas a mother is denied custody of her three children ages 6, 4 and 4. Thank goodness the Arkansas Court of Appeals was on the ball. Not that anyone with half a brain would give her those children.

This mom wins my Bad Mom of the Year award. She showed up drunk at a psychological evaluation, then when she was accused of being drunk, she said she was not drunk because she "can drink like a fish." As if that's something to be proud of!

The Court of Appeals rejected her bid for custody Wednesday after listing her frequent absences, addictions and criminal activity to support her habit. I hope these children will be found loving homes and overcome their rocky start in life.

Crop Circles Down Under?

The phenomenon of crop circles seemed to have made an appearance in Tasmania, Australia. Those on a quest to prove alien life were disappointed by the real reason behind the crop circles.

Evidently the wallabies have a yen for snacking on the legally grown opium poppy fields in the area. After this tasty snack, they are feeling a bit high and begin to hop around in circles trampling the crops.

Lara Giddings, the Tasmania Attorney-General said, "We have a problem with wallabies entering poppy fields, getting as high as a kite and going around in circles. Then they crash. We see crop circles in the poppy industry from wallabies that are high."

I don't know what they can do about this problem, but until a decision is reached, lets see what kind of neat crop circles they can make. Watching them from the sidelines has got to be funny, pass me the popcorn.

Bill Collectors Aren't All Bad!

In California this week a surprise visit from a bill collector saved a woman's life. She can be the first to say she was happy to see the bill collector.

On Wednesday a bill collector knocked on the unnamed woman's door. He asked her if she was ok and as she cried she whispered she was being held hostage and the man had a gun. She was able to scribble the word "help" and her ex's name, Miguel Rios.

The bill collector immediately called the police and they arrested the man without further incident. The woman had been held hostage since Sunday and had bite marks and bruises. Rios allegedly tried to strangle her also and left marks on her neck from the attempts.

I hope they will let the attempt at collecting the debt go for awhile considering what she has been through. A past debt doesn't seem so important after facing death.

A Special Delivery

There are not many surprises to be found inside a public mailbox. Usually it's just mail, but earlier this month a postal employee in Boston got a big surprise.

A tiny 8-week-old kitten weighing two pounds was sitting on top of the pile of letters and boxes. The MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center cared for her and nicknamed her "Postina."

This past weekend postal worker George Knapp and his wife, Dani-Jean Stuart adopted this adorable kitten. They quickly re-named her "P.D." for "Postage Due." They had been looking for a kitten to adopt since their previous cat died a year ago.

I hope P.D. lives a long, happy life with her new people.
