It's time for the weird news weekly review. Here are the eye rolling, chuckle worthy news pieces for the week of June 29-July 3.

Justice Slightly Delayed

In Montana, retired District Judge, Ronald McPhillips, ruled this week on a lawsuit filed March 31, 1983. The file disappeared in March of 1985 and was forgotten until the Great Falls Tribune wrote a story about it.

Milan Ayers filed the lawsuit against former partner James Rubow stating Mr. Rubow allegedly swindled Mr. Ayers out of his share of a natural gas field. The leases were worth, potentially, millions of dollars.

The big question is why didn't Milan Ayers raise a stink about his case before now? It's been 24 years! I know the courts can be slow but come on.

Where was the old case file located? Elda Nichols, the retired judge's administrative assistant, said, "I think he found it in an old briefcase he had at home."

The Montana Supreme Court said if the lawsuit was in good shape, then Judge McPhillips could rule on it. On Monday, he did just that. He ruled Mr. Rubow didn't breach his agreement with Mr. Ayers, lawsuit dismissed. Mr. Ayers is not certain if he will file an appeal. If I were him, I'd let it go before his appeal is lost for the next 24 years.

Obsessed with Bunnies

Miriam Sakewitz has crossed the line again for loving bunny rabbits. At first glance it sounds a bit ridiculous and mean. Arrest a woman because she loves bunnies? There's a lot more to the story than that. She doesn't just love them, she's obsessed with them.

In 2006, Oregon police found more than 150 rabbits in her home. There were also dozens of dead bunnies in her freezers. After pleading no contest to charges of animal neglect, she was given five years probation and ordered to step away from the bunnies!

A maintenance worker for the hotel where she was living called the authorities after finding bunches of bunnies in her room. Her bunny loving obsession overwhelmed her and landed her back in jail for 90 days on a probation violation.

Putting Out the Fire

In local weird news, a fellow Martin Countian in Florida was arrested on domestic battery charges after elbowing his wife in the mouth and drenching her with the garden hose.

Why did he do that? Because his wife lit up a cigarette in their home. That's one way to put out the cigarette! After she lit up, they began arguing and when she picked up the phone, her husband thought she was calling the cops. So he planted an elbow in her mouth while struggling for the phone.

The party then moved outside, and as Martin County's finest arrived, the husband turned the hose on her. He says he didn't intend to soak her, he was only watering the grass. The didn't believe that one and he was hauled off to inspect our local jail.

Airline Employees Bare All

In an effort to get passengers flying on Air New Zealand's domestic routes to pay attention to that boring safety video, the crew in the safety video got down to the bare essentials.

The only thing they wore, besides a big smile, was some body paint that looked like uniforms. As they talked about the plane's safety procedures, a seat belt, armrest and life jacket served to protect the crew member's essentials.

While it is a unique idea and obviously successful, I'm not sure if there were an emergency anyone on the plane would remember a thing from the safety video! Passengers paid attention, but not to what they were saying. As of this writing, the video on youtube has 1,049,908 views.
