If you live or work in the Metro Detroit area and are looking for a great bar to visit while in downtown Detroit, you don't have to look any further than The Well, located at 1228 Randolph St Detroit, MI 48226. The Well is on Randolph between Monroe and Gratiot, and just a couple of blocks from the Greektown Casino and Hotel. The Well has been open just a little over three years, having opened shortly before the 2006 Superbowl that was hosted at Ford Field.

The Well is truly a neighborhood bar, where anyone can feel comfortable, whether you are employed, unemployed, rich or poor, man or woman, black or white. The owners/bartenders are friends and all work together to keep their business thriving in a downtown area that many wrote off years ago.

Downtown Detroit has enjoyed a resurgence over the last several years with the opening of Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers, Ford Field, home to the Detroit Lions, the relocation of Compuware Corporation from the suburb of Farmington Hills, MI to Detroit, as well as the development of Campus Martius Park at the corner of Woodward and Michigan Avenues.

The Well has been a part of the resurgence of downtown Detroit. During the week and on weekend afternoons The Well plays host to sports fans downtown to see a Red Wings, Tigers, or Detroit Lions game, whether they have tickets to the game or not. The Well has several plasma televisions as well as a large projection screen where they will show local games or another crowd drawing sporting event.

On Friday and Saturday nights the crowd is treated to music played by a great DJ. The DJ takes requests and plays the latest dance music to get people on the small dance floor located at the front of the bar. The back of the bar boasts a foosball table and a couple of video games, which get little if any use during peak times when the bar is crowded.

Having visited The Well on many occasions varying from just grabbing a drink with a couple of co-workers on a Friday night after work, to making The Well our destination when my friends and I want to go out dancing, I am comfortable no matter the occasion. While drinks at The Well may be cheap in price they are well mixed, and not watered down. They also have a signature shot called "River Water," that is a great choice for first time visitors to The Well.

So, if you are looking for a new bar to visit the next time you are in downtown Detroit give The Well a try, you won't be disappointed, and you will feel right at home!
