The Wen and Where on Shampoo

Shampoo Review!

One morning my husband suggested that I should find a product to condition my dry hair problem. I knew that my hair had been dry for a while but having my newlywed husband of 2 years say this to me was kind of embarrassing. The culprits were pre-menopause and hair color, plus we lived in a harshly cold high-altitude environment in Northern Oregon. He said that all the women in Northern Oregon had this problem. Two years earlier I lived in a humid Georgian environment . This was before him and I were married, and my hair was fine there. So I had no clue that when I moved to Oregon to be with him that things would change. Anyway, the next day I began my search for something to hydrate my hair.

As luck would have it an infomercial caught my attention the very next day. Was it was meant to be? The product featured was called The "Wen" hair care system. The infomercial claimed that the shampoo alone would change the texture and feel of my hair from dry, dull and lifeless...to soft shiny and full of body. I was intrigued. I ordered a package that had 4 products including a shampoo called "Cleansing Conditioner", a deep conditioner called, "Re-moist Intensive Hair Treatment", a hair gel called" Styling Creme", and a hair additive called " Texture Balm". When I called the center they tried to get me to sign up for auto-ship, for around $40.00 a month, but I didn't want to commit to that just yet. So, I paid around $50.00 to get a one-time shipment, just try it out.

When my shipment arrived and I opened it, my first thought was that the size of the containers seemed a little small. The smell was pleasant, that of sweet almonds. I washed my hair that evening following the directions to the tee. I was surprised that just a small amount went a long way. I wet my hair, added about a quarter size amount of the "Wen" cleansing conditioner to my hair and massaged it in. Then I combed it through as the directions said and let it stay on my hair for about 5 minutes. After rinsing, I applied about the same amount of the "Wen" Re-moist Intensive hair cream to my hair and did the same thing. After rinsing this out, I towel dried, and then massaged in a small squeeze of the "Wen" styling cream to my root area. I then styled my hair as usual. Lastly, I added just a dab of the "Wen" texture balm, just to smooth and anchor my hair into the style.

When I was finished I could not believe the results. My once frizzy, dull, dry and lifeless hair was unrecognizably soft, silky, shiny, and full of body... just like the infomercial promised. I thought maybe it was a fluke and that as time went on the results would fade, but that was not the case. This stuff was great! Another thing, was that because my hair was short and thin, a little bit went a long way. My one month supply lasted me 3 long months. I got an email from the company after a while with a 30% coupon stating they wanted me back as a "Wen" customer again. What they didn't know was that I was a loyal customer and a believer. I was hooked! I continue to use their shampoo...and as far as I'm concerned will keep using it forever. I feel it is the best thing I've ever used on my hair... bar none! And I used to be a hairdresser.

As a recent newlywed the only advice I'd give to anyone considering purchasing this "Wen" hair care line would be this. If you are like me, still in the honeymoon stage, with a man you want to please, I would suggest adding just a little bit of either "Herbal Essence" conditioner, or "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific" conditioner to the final conditioning phase, just so your hair smells extra good when your man gets close. The sweet almond scent of the "Wen" product line is mild and nice, but it won't solicit the snuggly nose in your hair touchy feely reaction...coupled with the statement, "your hair smells so good", if that's what you're used to... as I was. To find the "Wen" products go to: wenhaircare.com. The "Herbal Essence" conditioner is available at Wal-Mart or most drug stores, and "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific" conditioner, a product popular back in the 70's, can be purchased from a mail order catalog called: : "The Vermont Country Store", vermontcountrystore.com.
