The New Wendy's Bacon and Blue Combo Burger

Fast Food Attempts a Gourmet Burger

Hamburgers are one of those things that we love as Americans. This is also true for quite a bit of the rest of the world and its love of hamburgers. People love burgers and many people like a variety of toppings on them. Some of these toppings are not what you would think of typically belonging on a burger like the blue cheese that Wendy's has put on this new burger.

The burger is a quarter pound burger with lettuce and tomato, smoked apple wood bacon and sautéed onions. The burger also has to special ingredients. The first is the blue cheese crumbles that give the sandwich part of its name. There is also a steakhouse spread. It is not really spicy but has a bit of kick to it. It kind of reminds me of an A1 steak sauce with some other things in it that finds a way to round out the taste for the burger. The sauce also has blue cheese in addition to the crumbles.

I was not overly impressed with the Bacon and Blue Burger when I tried it. I am not really big on blue cheese to begin with. I would say that if they used cheddar instead the sandwich would have been a much more tasty lunch. The bacon gives it a good taste and the steakhouse sauce gives just the right compliment to the Bacon and Blue Burger. You can usually find the combo with fries and a drink for like $5.99 depending on the market that you are in. I personally would not recommend the burger and it really does not look appeasing. I am a regular burger kind of guy. You take a burger throw bacon and cheese on it and that is the burger for me.

Like most fast food it is not really good for you. It has 680 calories, 40 grams of fat, 44 grams of carbohydrates and 37 grams of protein. It seems like it would be healthier to just eat a single with cheese or a triple stack burger (not available in all markets). Or if you want to save money you could just buy a couple double stackers.
