The company my husband works for provides mileage and a free hotel stay for those employees that don't live in the Seattle area....and this year they chose to host the dinner and our guestrooms at the Bellevue Westin. And even though I didn't get to go to the dinner with my husband, I am so glad that I came along for the ride!
Bellevue is a beautiful and affluent suburb of Seattle, and the Westin Hotel is smack dab in the middle of one of it's best shopping and dining areas. The hotel is in an enormous, glass skyscraper with views of the city and Lake Washington. It is simply and elegantly decorated in a modern zen style...awesome feng shui if I should say so myself!
Upon arrival we were escorted to the check-in desk by valet parking attendants and the bellhop. The girl at the check-in counter handed us a bag full of baby-proofing items, a night light and a rubber ducky for our son, the customer service here is impeccable. I was happily impressed, especially since last year's dinner was hosted at the Fairmont in downtown Seattle, another 5 star hotel, and the service was horrible.
Our room was on the 13th floor and had incredible views of the city and of the lake. And our son proved to be a true urbanite at heart like his mom & dad......he ran straight for the windows and was so excited pointing at the buildings, the cars below, the lights.....he was so enthralled with the view! The furnishings were comfortable and spotless....the shower had a dual showerhead and the bed was simply heavenly......literally and figuratively. You can actually purchase a bed from the Westin Heavenly collection! It is like sleeping on a cloud.
After my husband left to go to the dinner, I ordered room service for our son. They have a wonderful children's menu that is very well-priced and offers a variety of kid's favorites. My little guy had their silver dollar pancakes for dinner that night.......and they were the biggest and fluffiest things I have ever seen! Of course, I had to eat some too! About an hour later, I got my own meal delivered.....the waitstaff at the company dinner sent up a meal for me, since I was unable to attend downstairs. So thoughtful, and the salmon was to die for.
I was truly amazed and impressed with this hotel. In my expereince at most luxury spots, children are not exactly well received, especially toddlers, but the staff at the Westin Bellevue bent over backwards to accomodate us and our son. The hotel walls were nice & soundproof too so we didn't have to worry about our son disturbing the other guests as he is a loud....very loud, little boy.
I have to give my mommy two thumbs up to these guys for running a quality establishement with excellent customer service. Luxury digs you can take your toddler too and not feel out of place, uncomfortable or paranoid. 5 stars well deserved!
