The "Why" Chromosome - Should a Woman Preach and Teach?

This Debate Has Persisted for Centuries. What Ought Women to Do with Their Spiritual Gifts?

Linda Ann Nickerson

Preach the Gospel at all times,
and when necessary, use words.

St. Francis of Assisi
(1182 - 1226)

I have a missing chromosome
Within my cells, I'm told.
Yet must I merely lead at home,
Till children will grow old?

Would God give me a teaching gift,
So I could keep it hid?
Would my Lord lead me to uplift,
Just to that gift forbid?

From ages past, His saints have led
To glorify His Name.
Both men and women, they have bled,
His suffering to claim.

A world of sorrows needs His joy;
I cannot hold my peace.
And I'll exhort both girl and boy
The captives to release.

If God should call you out to lead,
His grace will you beseech.
Let no man try to supercede,
If you be called to preach.

For God can recreate a soul
And make it cease to roam.
Within His sweet divine control,
Who needs a chromosome?

There are several prophetess' in the Word Miriam is one - Exodus 15:20. If He will use a donkey to warn someone like Balaam, then He will surely use a woman! - Numbers 22: 21-31

Women are rarely seen behind the pulpit because it is males, not God, who halt them from being there. Bless the souls of those kind Men (They are the ones who deserve the title of Man) who let women speak aloud from behind the pulpit. We both have important messages to spread and working together is one of the things that will please Him when He returns. One side dominating will not work and we have both made mistakes in the past though people are quick to blame Eve. Yes she may have eaten the apple out of doing whats natural; human curiosity, but men killed the son of God out of fear and power. He's coming back so let's hold hands and show him we are sorry and that we have learned to work together for chance number three! :D

    Very touching piece!

    God bless!

P.S. In regards to the apple, don't try to tell me you have wondered what the big shiny red button does when someone says "Don't press the big shiny red button!". I bet some of you would press it to see what happens ;) Huma

I will never forget the first time that I was allowed to preach from the pulpit. It was an amazing moment for me-one that I will always remember happily. The women at the tomb were the first to preach the gospel that Jesus had risen from the dead, and no one tried to stop them. I agree totally!

I often turn some people off because of my contention that writings attributed to Paul were more inspired by cultural bias than by God. To me, it is obvious and only those who need tangible proof of God's existence can not see it.
