The Winner of American Idol Is... David.
When the Results Were Revealed, it Wasn't that Close. Why Did the Winner Knock Out the Runner Up so Bad?
I'm sure many people are wondering why David Cook won by so many votes? Well I definitely believed that Archuleta would have received the majority of the younger people votes, which he probably did, it just obviously wasn't enough. I knew Cook was going to receive the young adult votes, the "groupies" who attend their favorite rock concerts. While my prediction was Archuleta, my face dropped when Seacrest uttered the words "12 million." I was saying to myself: "Wow, Archuleta beat Cook by that much?" That would have made more sense in my mind, but when Cook was revealed as the next American Idol, I had to pause for a moment. 12 million votes!?!? That's crazy, and I am sure there are going to be plenty of "It's Rigged" articles out there. But what can ya do?
The entire 2 hour show was filled with entertainment, both hilarious and humiliating at the same time. Of course there were massive performances by stars such as Bryan Adams, George Michael, Donna Summer, ZZ Top, the Jonas Brothers, Graham Nash, and OneRepublic. Also adding to the festivities were previous 'Idol" winners Jordin Sparks and Carrie Underwood. Seeing Underwood back on the Idol stage was nice, but she is a superstar now, and as always, she was flawless, as was Sparks. Mike Myers also made an appearance promoting his upcoming film "The Love Guru". Myers warned Archuleta about "making a boom-boom in his pull-ups." Embarrassing much?
Along with the superstars, it wouldn't be a finale without the competition's "worst" singers, would it? Seacrest introduced a montage of the worst singers from the audition round, which included the annoying Renaldo Lapuz. To make things worst, Lapuz came on stage singing his endless and ANNOYING tribute to brotherhood. He was joined by the marching band from the University of Southern California. Even when he was supposed to stop singing, he just kept on going, and then the commercials started. I truly believe that he was still singing while the commercials were rolling.
Getting back to what's most important, winning American Idol is a great task, but even though Archuleta didn't take home the crown, he will still receive a contract from somebody. I am not sure if it is a curse or anything, but certain past Idol winners haven't been doing so hot in the music business, so if it is any consolation to Mr. Archuleta, he should possibly be happy. I don't think Cook is going to follow in the footsteps of failing Idol winners, but it could be that the pressure gets to them. I do wish them both the best of luck, because they each deserve superstardom. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a couple other Idol contestants flourish in the music business.
Simon congratulated both of the Davids, and he quoted: "For the first time ever, I don't really care who wins." Saying that really told me that he thought this was the best season yet, because the talent level was great and so close. Until next year, may both of the Davids do well in their music careers, because I look forward to hearing songs on the radio by them!

I voted for Cook, but they were both good
I really don't think it matters who won--although I voted for Archie, I love both of them. I also like the genuine friendship that they have...in other news, I actually found the Love Guru segment kind of annoying, but I did enjoy the other guest stars (Nash, One Republic, and Carrie especially).
very nice review.
