Indie Rock band The Winter Sounds are set to release their new album Church of the Haunted South on July 7, 2009. Formed in 2006, this band is gaining steadfast popularity with their musical talents and writing techniques. The band features Bassist and Singer/Songwriter Patrick Keenan. Clayton Taylor also lends his voice to the album, while Ryan Durdin plays the drums. Merideth Huff provides the finishing touches on the album with the keyboard. This album features 12 singles including Trophy Wife, Candlelight, and Pinebox. The music features an eclectic blend of Electro-Pop, New Wave, and Rock.

Trophy Wife is an up-beat, melodic tune featuring Bassist frontman Patrick Keenan on vocals. This single was also a pick for the Daily Dose for Insomnia Radio.Candlelight, the second single from the album, is another up-beat tune. The song features emotion-filled lyrics and a chorus which showcases perfect harmonizing vocals. The "candlelight" represents staying strong and surviving situations that tests the narrator. This meaning is evident with the lyrics, " I can see the candlelight in the windows of our youth/It's fading fast/I can survive this if I stay awake all night/If I never doubt." Pinebox is a dance-inspired track off Church of the Haunted South. The single features synthesizers, a fast guitar rhythm, and harmonizing vocals. The song also features a catchy chant, "Uh oh here we go/We've got no money, no love, a sign of the times that everything must end/Uh oh here we go; we go no money, no love, a sign of the times that everything must end."

If this album is any indication, The Winter Sounds are making a good name among listeners and critics. Their gain in popularity is quite evident when viewing their busy touring schedule on their Myspace page. To listen to the full-length album featuring all 12 tracks, listeners can visit the Listening Page at the Bandcamp website.
