The Wish

Donna Cavanagh

Some make a wish on a falling star
Some keep it close to the heart
Too important to expose to the world
But its presence gives the day its start

A dream that could never be abandoned
Although at times it is pushed to the side
Its luster tarnished by everyday life
A wish delayed -- but not a wish that died

The wish finds the strength to speak
In the quiet when we are alone
Then there is time to ponder possibilities
Time to think how to give our wish a home

We have to teach our wish to breathe
Give it legs to walk then run
Let it live outisde our hearts and minds
Let it fly in the light of the sun

An inspiring and touching poem, Donna. Sadly, most of our wishes die within us unfulfilled. What a waste! We need to cultivate the inner calling and give it a life - siva
