The Wizard of Oz Makes Stop in Detroit

The greatest family musical of all time, The Wizard of Oz, is touching down in Detroit as NETworks Presentations brings this national treasure to the Fisher Theatre, January 29-February 14, 2010.

This magical production, based on the Royal Shakespeare Company's celebration of the 1939 MGM movie, is presented with breathtaking special effects that will sweep audiences away, from the moment the tornado twists its way into Kansas.

Twelve children from the Detroit area will be performing the roles of "munchkins." The group, from Deborah's Stage Door in Rochester Hills, was chosen at auditions that took place at the Fisher Theatre on Saturday, December 5.

Singing timeless classics such as "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead", the local children will help bring this beloved classic to the stage of their hometown as part of their continuing performing arts education.

Ticket prices for the Detroit engagement of Wizard of Oz range from $24.00-$79.00 (inclusive of parking and facility fees) and are now on sale at the Fisher Theatre box office and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets are also available for purchase on line at Ticketmaster.com or www.BroadwayinDetroit.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-982-2787.
