The Women of LOST: What Will They Do Next?

Is There Life After LOST? for the Talented Actresses from the Show, Most Definitely Yes

May Monten
LOST may be over, and the characters may have gone off into the bright light. The talented actresses who worked on the show, though, are still with us and in the prime of their careers. I'm excited to watch what they will do next. See you in another life, sistas!

Evangeline Lilly

Lilly's character Kate, the tree-climbing fugitive and charter member of the love triangle that some fans loved, and others loved to hate, was an inexperienced actress when LOST first began. How long ago that seems now!

Lilly is starring with Anthony Mackie and Hugh Jackman in the movie Real Steele, a DreamWorks movie produced by Steven Spielberg. A story about a boxer, set in the near future, it's scheduled to open on November 18, 2011.

Emilie de Ravin

On LOST, Emilie de Ravin played sweet, pretty, peanut-butter loving Claire, who turned into tangly-hair feral Claire, mother of the creepy Squirrel Baby. Now de Ravin is working on an animated fantasy film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hooleto, where she provides the voice of the character Eglantine, an owl.

The movie is scheduled to be released on September 24, 2010.

Fionnula Flanagan

Fionnula Flanagan, the Irish actress who did such a magnificent job portraying the mysterious Eloise Hawking in LOST, has roles in two films that are currently in post-production. In the first, Coming & Going, a romantic comedy scheduled to be released at some as-yet-unspecified time in 2010, Flanagan plays the "meddlesome but well-meaning aunt" of the romantic lead

The second film, The Guard, a comedy/thriller set in Ireland, is scheduled to be released in 2011.

Elizabeth Mitchell

Elizabeth Mitchell, as Juliet, detonated Jughead at the end of Season 5, turning our screens to white.

Now, Mitchell is still starring in V, which ABC has renewed for a second season. It will be back sometime in mid-season, possibly in November, 2010.

Mitchell is also starring in a movie Answers to Nothing, an independent drama which Mitchell compared to "Magnolia." She plays a "hormonal woman" with a shaky marriage. The movie, currently in post-production, is scheduled to open some time this year.

Yunjin Kim

Yunjin Kim played Sun, the woman who had many secrets and hidden strengths. She's been cast in a movie called The Unconditional. Not much information is available about it yet, other than that it's set to open in 2011.

Sonya Walger

In LOST, Sonya Walger played Penny who searched the world for Desmond. During LOST's final season, Walger also starred in the ABC series FlashForward, which, alas, been canceled just when it was starting to get good.

Walger will be playing Shelly in the psychological-thriller The Factory, a movie co-starring John Cusack about an obsessed cop and a serial killer, set to come out in 2011

Out of the shadow of the statue

So there you have it. Lots of great projects to look forward to. The women of LOST, now out of the shadow of the statue, are all embarking on exciting new adventures. To paraphrase the immortal words of Hurley, they are about to make their own luck.

Nice piece! My favorite of the Lost women was the beautiful Cynthia Wattros who played Libby Smith until her premature demise. She seems to have transitioned to House as Dr. Wilson's ex-wife and re-acquainted love interest!

I did mention Emilie de Ravin -- she's the second on the list -- but thanks for adding the info about "Remember Me" which (no pun intended) I had forgotten to mention. ;-)

You may have forgotten about one of the hottest Lost women, Emilie de Ravin. Prior to Lost she starred in the WB's Roswell and just had her new movie Remember me. She might have the most "upside" of all the women of Lost.
