The Physical Benefits
This dance provides a good cardio-vascular workout that helps increase both flexibility and strength. It contours our bodies and enhances curves.
Many of the belly dance steps emphasize on muscular isolations, enhancing our body's ability to move various muscles or muscle groups solely on its own.
The veil works on building the arms, firming it. It defines our shoulders, and strengthens the rest of our upper-bodies.
It flattens tummy as it firms, giving you wonderful abs and strengthens the obliques.
It is also good for the legs, waist, hip and buns.
Belly dancing can burn calories as much as swimming, riding bike, jogging and aerobics can.
Not to mention it's very convenient because, it's indoor, and that no equipments needed except for the veil, for the arms, and the costume, just to spice it up.
The Mental; Psychological Benefits
Unlike other exercises, belly dancing is never boring, always enticing, so fun and exciting.
Many belly dancer housewives confessed how it put back flare into their marriages. Saying that whenever their hubbies, sees them dancing, finds them so sexy, "hot" and simply irresistible.
This sensuous dance is a very effective way of boosting self confidence, esp. on women and ladies of all ages. It helps one to recognize its self worth and can cause positive aura, leading to a better perspective in life.
Misconception
Few are aware that men can do belly dancing too. And, there are quite a number of male dancers like, Bert Balladine, John Compton, Francisco Carranza (Mr. Bellydance U.S. 1989) and Canadian dancer Valizan, who have proven that men can belly dance, as good as women can.
What does it mean to married women? This means that you can always pull your husband to join you, and belly dance together.
It's just a matter of giving it a good kick of the hips, lots of grace and a sexy look.
Some men might hesitate, but, that's how we can tell if they still find us sexy enough to dance with us.
Mystical Belief
In Middle East, belly dance is also their way of c asting bad spirits and bad forces away. Like if one is weary, stressed out, or a sick coming, or something had been bothering you, feeling low, anything negative, it drives it out, allowing the positive energies to flow in to your stream.
Red Flag!
The red flag here is that, some belly dance the same way they do lambada and salsa, when it's different. Although, similarly the three evolves on waist and hip, belly dance is slower than the two and it has more impact and emphasis.
