The Wonders of Garlic

Beth Lytle
Some women use a toe of garlic to naturally treat a yeast infection by inserting the garlic directly into the vagina. Garlic supplements can be taken to naturally keep a heart attack at bay in place of aspirin. Beware that garlic is a blood thinner, so it should be discontinued before surgical procedures.

Eating garlic on a daily basis is supposed to help ward off esophageal, stomach and colon cancer. In some test studies, garlic has been shown to inhibit the growth of different types of cancer, particularly breast and skin cancers and tumors.

In addition to aiding in cardiovascular health, garlic may also help improve poor circulation, so it is excellent for someone with diabetes to implement into their diet and internally (through supplements) on a daily basis. Garlic is very antibacterial and antiviral, so it is beneficial in the treatment of intestinal parasites.

Garlic is a very effective remedy for lowering blood pressure. It can also slow down the heart rhythm, making it great for men and women who are experiencing heart palpitations (like during menopause).

Another interesting home remedy is for treating acne (pimples) with fresh garlic. Simply rub peeled fresh garlic or the juice from fresh garlic on acne prone areas to help rid the skin of pimples and acne naturally without leaving a scar behind. Garlic juice can be obtained from a jar of chopped garlic, which is available in the produce section of most grocery stores.
