Our speech has power that few realize
The words we choose set life's stage
They reveal our strength and our weaknesses
Our words convey doubt, joy or rage
The words we choose set life's stage
They reveal our strength and our weaknesses
Our words convey doubt, joy or rage
When others listen to us speak
What message is it that they hear?
Do we inspire courage or determination?
Or do our words tell a story of bitterness and fear?
Be careful of the words you choose
For they will steer your fate
Negative words will set a course for heartache
A life of suffering you might create
Think before you speak is the wisest of sayings
Set the tone for the days ahead
Build a world of hope and expectation
And abandon words of self-pity and dread

Post a CommentI completely agree! This is such thoughtful writing, Donna!!
There are certainly things I have said that I wish I could take back.
Very well chosen words Donna!!
I was always told: "Always engage brain before putting mouth in gear." This poem says the same thing, only with a lot more eloquence. Well written!
So true, Donna, great job here!
I agree with Jack. This is spot on!!
Spot on the mark again Donna. We can use our tongue and bless or tear down. I prefer the former. Nice work, and great advice, as always from you! :-)
think before you speak if only we did more of that
This is so true. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything!
Words can slice and wound deeply. I've always said that whoever said, "sticks and stones...but words can never hurt me!" has never been on the receiving end of a verbal bashing! cheers :) Good one, Donna
