Working Woman Haiku Samples:

Mad, screaming woman,
Frustrated with piles of work,
Has wine with dinner.

Whiny people stare,
At woman who doesn't care,
About their problem.

Her boss is crazy,
Co-workers can drive her mad,
Is it just a job?

The promotion comes,
With a boatload of nightmares,
Is this what she wants?

What's Haiku?

Haiku is a type of Japanese p o e t r y that combines feelings and words in a compact form. Haiku poetry addresses everyday things using simple words. The most common form for Haiku is three short lines. The first line contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line five (5) syllables. Haiku doesn't have to rhyme. Haiku simply paints a picture in the reader's mind. Your challenge in this contest is to paint a mental picture of your life as a working woman using ONLY seventeen (17) syllables in three (3) lines of poetry.

Good luck! May the best working woman haiku win. And, remember to spread the word about the contest.

THE FINE PRINT:

By posting your Haiku on the Working Woman's Rant & Rave Group Facebook wall, contest participants give full permission for their poem and their name to be published with no expectation of financial compensation. By entering, participant grants to Gina Maddox a royalty-free license to edit, publish, promote, and republish the Haiku at any time in the future.
