The World is Changing

The Midst of Major Change

Kurt Evans
As the time draws closer to 2012, the crazier things are getting in our world. We're in the midst of an information revolution and the world is changing before our very eyes. Transformation is happening right in front of us, and either you change with the times or you get buried in the dust; that's the name of the game.

Change Of The World

Whether it's the foreclosure crisis or people loosing their jobs because things are being outsourced to other countries for cheaper labor, or the outright change in moods and attitudes of the people around us; we're in the midst of major change of the world we live in. This change obviously doesn't come easily, as can be witnessed by people's constant bickering in the media circles. Whether it's CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC, or CBS; it doesn't seem to matter because everywhere we look, it's happening.

Society

We used to live in a society in which you borrowed money for everything and life went on accordingly. The reigns are tightening and the lenders are looking to collect their debt. It seems that we're changing from a goods and services based economy to something else, and we're still trying to figure out what that something else is.

The Internet

Since the internet has gotten so big, that's one of the ways in which the game called life is changing. Employers can now look up any of their employees on Facebook and find out what they're really like outside the office and the workplace by looking at what they post on their Facebook page. The more people share their lives on Facebook, the more it seems that privacy is disappearing from our world.

Facebook

People are finding out that the things they post on Facebook, aren't so private after all, as Facebook changes their terms of service by making their information more public. There also seems to be a meshing of the internet into the real world. It used to be that you could have your own persona online and nobody would find out who you are. That has changed because it's been found out that all of your activity on the internet can be tracked through your ip address. It doesn't matter what computer you're on, if you're using a username, you can still be tracked.

Your Reputation

Now if you live an honest life, then you would hope that you have nothing to worry about. But, if you should happen to lend out your username to a friend or relative, there's no telling what they will do with it. You would hope that someone you know wouldn't do anything to tarnish your reputation, but, to be on the safe side, you should never let anyone else use your username.

The Internet And Thieves

The internet has also made it easier for thieves to steal; whether it's your identity or your house. We're finding out that while technology has its advantages, it does have its downfalls as well.

Google

Since the invention of Google Earth and Google Maps, thieves can basically track their target and plan the best course of attack.

Law Enforcement

The Internet adds a whole new area to law enforcement and security.

Digital Footprint

If you're on the internet, then you have a digital footprint. My advice is, use your digital footprint wisely because you never know who could be following you and tracking your every move.

Too Much Information

This means that you don't post where you're going to be every moment of the day on Facebook or Twitter. I know that everybody is dying to know what you had for breakfast this morning, but, when you add lunch and dinner into the equation; that's a little too much information. Let's be wise people.

So very true. Many times we have false sense of privacy and safety.

Good advice, I've never been a facebook kind of person. If I want to talk to someone, I'll make a phone call. When I tell people this, they think I'm old fashion. I'm not, I'm just private. We should all be. I'm glad to know someone feels like I do.

Take a bow, Kurt. You told us, whether we wanted to hear it or not. I learned not to share my whole life on FB the hard way, thankfully, not the real hard way.

    You are so right...!!!!
I enjoyed reading your article. I am glad all my FB postings are about trying to find homes for pets in shelters, a few comments on my daughter's photos, and happy birthday wishes!

You are scaring me!! LOL! I am an Internet lover I guess. I do try to be careful and honest at the same time. I read about a way you can delete your account David. I'll get my hands on that and share.

As one who lived a full life before the internet existed, I still have to say it has really changed things, and not all for the better. Great article.

I cleared out and turned off my facebook account, they won't let you delete it. The big change about to happen is the complete destruction of the dollar. We will be heading into a major depression soon. Things will get much worse before they get better. Listen to people like Peter Schiff and Glenn Beck, they know what they are talking about...the reason they are so hated.
