The World is Getting Dumber by the Day

It doesn't take much to realize that day by day the general population is getting more stupid and more and more selfish by the minute. All you have to do is watch the news, or even something as simple as go to the grocery store to notice this. So the question here I will be trying to determine an answer for is who is at fault? Could it be the people themselves or could it be our education system? I happen to believe it is a little bit of both. It seems that the people in this country (USA) are becoming more and more dependent on others to do for them. For instance, There are many people now on welfare government assistance that do not need it. I am not saying everyone, some people legitimately do need and deserve it. But should welfare assistance be given to someone who has a drug problem? Or an alcohol problem? No, It shouldn't but the sad fact is that they do receive welfare assistance. To me that just tells them not to get better because they have a free check every month as long as they are sick. Does this make good logical sense? No. Another way people rely to much on others is when it comes to the news. Some people just watch it, and then decide it must be the truth because it was on the news. The problem with that is, The news media tend to be bias from channel to channel. The only way people can really find out the facts is by researching themselves. Most people will not do that because of 2 simple reasons, 1. They do not know how. 2. They are too lazy to find out how. In turn this leads people into believing whatever they here as an opinion on the news media channels to be a fact. I say this is probably one of the biggest reasons a lot of people are just plain stupid anymore. But they do not know any better. Now I am not saying am the smartest knife in the drawer, But I do like to know facts over opinions.

Confucius once said "To know your faults and be able to change is the greatest virtue." I do believe that to be one of the best quotes ever. Everyone of us, No matter Race, sex, creed, or geographical location can change and can propel ourselves forward using knowledge. Some of us are just too lazy to look ahead at a big picture and equip ourselves with the facts needed to reach a real conclusion on anything. I also think that a big issue we have is with the educational system. Teachers are very underpaid and the school system actually dropped the passing scores to make themselves look better. Whatever happened to either you make the cut or you don't ? With the school systems dropping the passing scores it makes them look better on paper because they obviously have more students passing. The drawback to that is when they get into the real world they think they are smart because they passed and have a degree or diploma. Truth is, when the passing scores get dropped so does the overall IQ of people. This needs to be fixed in a timely fashion in my opinion. There are too many people out in the world now who think they know everything and truthfully don't know as much as they think. This tends to make the country seem more and more stupid.

Stupid may be a harsh word to use while I am writing this article but I don't think it is as harsh as what really happens in the real world. We have lost a sense of Morals, brains and compassion in this country and because of that we are on a downhill slope to nowhere. Our elected officials are even acting like 5 year old's on a school yard. I was watching when president Obama addressed the congress and Senator Joe Wilson from North Carolina shouted out "You Lie" and interrupted the President during his speech. I said to myself "What an Idiot". That is proof that this country is going downhill. He is the President of the United States and he is being interrupted by a senator that nobody really knows. Whatever happened to, We may disagree with government policies buy we still want the president no matter who it is to succeed for the good of our country. Shouldn't people be helping the president make his decisions and writing good policies instead of shouting "You Lie" and creative a divisive house and senate?
This is my final take on it, People need to be more educated and they need to really go back to working together as an entity of ONE not to be in it for their own selfish reasons. Our country was not founded by just one person and it has not grown into the empire it is today because of just one person. So what makes you think one person will be able to sustain it and make our country prosperous once again? Your right, they can't it takes all of us to pull together and move forward as one nation.
