The World Upturned

The world upturned twists your insides out
Being frightened of what your head just shouts
Chaos begins to rule your crazy mind
You're too scared of the things you might find.

All you need is a safe passage home tonight
Be able to set free the reigns of your life
Broken eggshells surround your tired and naked feet
There seems to be no sanctuary inside this dark consuming heat.

Lifelines are always being thrown but still you can't see
So they fade and vanish into nothing that could ever be
Reality doesn't appear to be good enough for you these strange days
It all seems to be created inside a suspicious dream-like haze.

So you feel the suffering and despair of a thousand screams
They torment you from within a myriad of reality dreams
Can you claim to be stronger now than ever before
Do you have the strength to lift your heavy head from the floor?
