The World's First Crossover Coupe

BMW was introducing the world's first crossover coupe, where they called it a Sports Activity Coupe by launching the 2008 BMW X6. This car is a high-riding four-door coupe for four-passenger, a combination of sports car and SUV. The BMW X6 is offered in two twin-turbocharged models, with inline-6 or V8 power. Shifter paddles on the steering wheel make the X6 has more sporty character.

The BMW X6 can be handled well on the road as well as on the track, better than any SUV but not as good as BMW's own sport roadsters and sporty coupes. The car corners with little body lean, but the stiff suspension makes the ride a little harsh, especially with the Sport Package and a 20-inch wheels.

The BMW X6's interior has a lot of leather and soft-touch surfaces. The car has a standard iDrive control system where it can make some interior controls difficult to be handled, but programmable buttons are provided to ease the control by setting your favorite functions. This car has large front-seat passengers. The back seat of the BMW X6 loses just 0.7 inch of legroom and 1.8 inches of headroom, but it's still comfort for six-plus passengers, while the cargo volume is 60 cubic feet. The visibility to the rear is restricted by a small, flat rear window, but it is still acceptable while driving, but plant a $400 rearview camera for backup assistance may help your visibility.

The BMW X6 has a great turn-in and grip, and also the brakes that never overheated when used for slide on 90-mph sweeper, that make this car slide around in control.
