The World's Shortest Celebrity Marriages

Celebrity wedding are notorious for not lasting. It is pretty difficult to find a Hollywood couple who has actually stuck it out according to their vows, but there are a few pairs who couldn't even make it a full year. Without further ado, here are some of the world's shortest celebrity marriages!

Forget a year, there are a handful of celebrities who obviously realized within hours that the whole matrimony thing was a HUGE mistake! For example, Brittany Spears´ fateful Vegas marriage to pal Jason Alexander lasted just 55 hours before it was annulled. Even shorter was between Robin Givens and Syetozar Marinkovic, they supposedly separated the same day they got married. The lesson? Don't drink and vow!

Other flash in the pan marriages include Robert Evans and Catherine Oxenberg, whose ill-fated union lasted just 12 days, not surprising since they were married just four days after meeting. Dennis Hopper and Michelle Phillips called it quits after 8 days of wedded bliss back in 1971 and Drew Barrymore's matrimony with Jeremy Thomas lasted just shy of a month at 29 days in 1994.

While the above are some examples of truly bad decisions, other marriages looked like they might make it, but ended far too soon. What is it about Hollywood that makes couples fall apart so fast? And some of them do it more than once! Have they learned nothing from their first short-lived marriage? And who marries these people anyway? Wouldn't you steer clear of someone who has had a couple of previous short-term marriages? I know I would.

Drew Barrymore´s marriages seem to be fairly short-lived. After her less-than-a-month union with Jeremy Thomas, she married Tom Green and they ended their marriage just five months later. Jennifer Lopez is another repeat offender, with a 13 month marriage to Ojani Noa first, and then just 8 months with Chris Judd. Shannon Doherty joins the serial short marriage club with a 5 month matrimony with Ashley Hamilton and another 9 month one with Richard Salomon.

Yet others have almost made it through that first year, but just couldn't handle married life after all and called it quits before their first anniversary. Some examples? Axl Rose and Erin Everly just couldn't get past 7 months and Jim Carrey's marriage to Lauren Holly stopped dead at 9 months.

Unfortunately, there are plenty more examples of marriages gone wrong behind the silver screen, but I think the ones included in this article are more than enough proof that people ought to think twice before tying the knot!
