The world is full of some awesome and spectacular architecture. What seems impossible to accomplish has been acheived and it is evident in the the world's tallest buildings.
The Burj Khalifa, or Dubai Tower, is slated to be the tallest building in the world. The architecture is stunning. It reminds me of an icicle on a cold winter's day with it's fascinating shape and gleaming shine. It stands 2,716.5 feet high. Now, that is high! It is home to more than 160 stories, and is the proud owner of seven world records! This structure was just recently completed in 2010, with construction beginning in 2004.
The Taipei Tower located in Taiwan, is another fascinating piece of architecture. It was constructed in 2004 and has 101 stories. The Taipei held the title of the tallest building in the world until recently when the Burj Khalifa took the title over.
The Shanghai World Financial Center in China stands 1600 feet tall and has 101 stories. This building was recently constructed in 2008.
The International Commerce Center located in Hong Kong is a magnificent building standing 1588 feet and home to 118 stories. This is another grand building just recently completed in 2010. It took 8 years to complete.
The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was constructed in 1998 and stands 1,483 feet. Both towers have 88 stories. This is a beautiful tower, or towers I should say. The towers join together to appear as one tower. I can't imagine what kind of few you have on that bridge connecting the two towers!
The Nanjing Greenland Financial Complex located in China is 1480 feet and stands 89 stories high. Something about this architecture reminds me of that Tetris video game. The way the pieces seem to fit together.
The Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower located in Chicago towers about the ground at 1,450 feet and 110 stories. When it was constructed in 1973 it held the record as the tallest building in the world. Hard to imagine back then that something bigger would be constructed.
Another building in Shanghai, The Jin Mao Building, stands at a whopping 1,381 feet and 88 stories high. This building was constructed in 1999. The Designers of this great building designed it around the number 8.
Two buildings that stand no longer definitely deserves a mention in the tallest buildings of the world. They are the Twin Towers that were located in New York. They were constructed between 1970-1977. Both buildings were 110 stories. These were two extravagant buildings and are an iconic symbol.
The Trump International Hotel and Tower stands 1,170 feet and is said to be the tenth tallest building in the world today.
The Citic Plaza in China is constructed 1,283 feet high with 80 stories.
These buildings are just a few of the tallest buildings in the world. We are blessed to live in a world of such spectacular and grand architecture.

Post a CommentTaipei 101 is great. Have you been to any of the towers on the list? I lived in Taipei last year and going down to visit Taipei 101 was one of my favorite things to do. Everything was a bit pricier within Taipei 101's shopping mall, but the interior of the building was so beautiful as to make it worth it.
