The Worst Celebrity New Year's Resolutions of 2011

Rolando Cruz
The making of a New Year's resolution is a time honored tradition across the country, and celebrities are no different than most average Americans in this regard, as many of them also engage in the same goal-setting exercise that rings in a new year. However, just like in the case of many Americans, some of these resolutions are so bad, unrealistic, or un-measureable, that they will probably be abandoned before Ground Hog Day this year. Here then is a list of the worst Celebrity New Year's Resolutions of 2011.

Kim Kardashian
Realty Star Kim Kardashian has pledged to remain single for all of 2011, a resolution that will probably end five minutes after the clock strikes midnight to ring in the New Year. Not only is Kim a world renowned celebrity serial dater, but a good deal of her fame seems to be tied into her love life. I am sure that after she misses making the cover of tabloids for a few weeks running, that Kardashian will be spotted on a date with her latest A-list boyfriend. Of course, maybe what Kim meant by "remain single" is that she would not entertain an offer of marriage in 2011. That would be more believable, no?

Paris Hilton
Super celebrity Paris Hilton listed "eat healthy and work out more," as her New Year's resolutions, two worthwhile (though nebulous) goals that just don't seem to ring true given her party girl ways. You must remember this is a girl who has stated she is a Taco Bell junkie and whose diet includes "sprinkled cupcakes." Maybe what Paris meant was, "She would be willing to be a spokesperson for Taco Bell in 2011, provided that the fast food chain toss in a healthy sounding item or two onto their current menu."

Jack Black
Funnyman Jack Black hopes to use the New Year to "drop 50 pounds." While its a noble enoughgoal, is a total body makeover what the star of "Gulliver's Travels" and "Nacho Libre" really needs at this point of his career? In other words, is a skinny Jack Black still Jack Black?

Donald Glover
Perhaps actor Donald Glover (from TV's Community) doesn't fully grasp the concept, as he intends on making good on his New Year's resolution (of writing a movie) by March. That's a whole movie crammed into the first one third of the year. Overly ambitious? Unrealistic? Who knows? But what becomes of the other nine months? Is that when all the re-writes are due to take place?

Michael Trevino
Michael Trevino, of TV's "Vampire Diaries," has a rather simplistic but extremely easy to achieve goal for the New Year, which is, to get rid of his Facebook account. According to Trevino, "it's just something that needs to be done." While I can appreciate the simplicity of the goal, does it really need to be a New Year's resolution? I mean, come on now, this might take up all of 5 minutes of the New Year, place the item on a 'to do" list and be done with it.

Ryan McPartlin
Ryan McPartlin's (of TV's "Chuck") goal for the New Year is even less ambitious than Trevino's.

It seems Ryan would like to give up coffee but only for "a little while." What's the point of that? By year's end he will be back where he started. Why bother with a resolution that ends right back at the starting point?

Mammie Gummer

On the surface, Mammie Gummer's (actress on the new TV series "Off the Map,") goal seems worthwhile. The actress wants "to text less" in the New Year. Good. However, how do you know if you are successful, and how much less? Grummer should work on fleshing out her goal a bit and perhaps assign a numerical value to her goal. Whether she texts 50% less this year, or makes one less text during the course of the whole year, a goal should be measurable.

Jorga Fox

Jorja Fox of "CSI" has a similar problem to Gummer's and that is, how is she going to measure the success of her resolution? For the coming year, Fox has stated she wants "to be kinder." Perhaps the CSI star should go about measuring her success by having her friends fill out a pre and a post year questionnaire that quantifies her "level of kindness." What's that? Silly you say? I agree, but then again, how do you measure an improvement in kindness?

Laura Benanti
It's not that Tony Award winning Broadway actress Laura Benanti doesn't have a worthwhile resolution this year, after all, the actress is going with "minimized negative thinking, optimize positive thought," it's just that in her line of work that would seem like a total impossibility. Unless she is about to avoid the stage altogether in 2011, her resolution will probably go out the window by the third negative review she reads this year.
