The Worst Features of the New Samsung Galaxy Y Smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy Y smartphone is tailored to suit the needs of younger users and boasts great features including SWYPE technology, various colors to choose from, and reasonable hardware, but it has a few poor features as well.

Poor Camera Quality

One of the worst features of the Samsung Galaxy Y is its camera quality. 5, 8, 10, and even 12 megapixel cameras are the norm in today's mobile phone market and with smartphone's quickly replacing digital cameras as most consumer's go-to camera, the laughable 2 megapixel camera of the Samsung Galaxy Y smartphone leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Horrible Battery Life

Regardless of how advanced a smartphone is, if it's battery can't make it through the day, it can significantly decrease the appeal of virtually any smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Y features a 1200 mAh battery, but unfortunately it only offers a maximum talk time of a paltry 5 hours. 5 hours of max talk time is very underwhelming and seeing how the Samsung Galaxy Y was designed for younger needs, most of them won't find its battery suitable.

Small Display Resolution

The Samsung Galaxy Y sports a very compact frame and has a relatively large display (when compared to its form factor), but the "large" 3 inch display of the Samsung Galaxy Y has a horrible 240 x 320 pixels resolution. The small resolution of the Samsung Galaxy Y almost defeats the purpose of its seemingly large 3 inch display and is a big buzz-kill of this smartphone.

Poor Initial Memory

Most smartphones are only as great as the amount of apps and data that they can store and when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Y, that isn't much. The Samsung Galaxy Y ships with a default 160MB of built-in storage and a 2GB storage card, and although it can support up to 32GB of additional storage, getting that much storage on this device will cost a "pretty penny".

Slow Processing Speed

If storage space is important, processing speed is even more important. The Samsung Galaxy Y features a slow 832 MHz single core processor and in a world where modern smartphones are supporting more than twice the amount of the Galaxy Y, it's hard to understand why this smartphone doesn't have a more powerful processor.
