Kate Gosselin Hair (also called the backwards mullet or the cockatoo). This was the first haircut that came to mind when constructing this list. This may be due to the fact that in 2009 she was plastered all over the front of tabloids and on television shows from The View to The Today Show. My guess is it really was that memorably bad. Now don't get me wrong, Kate is a beautiful woman, and when you factor in her age and the fact that she has birthed 8 children, even more so, but the hairstyle is just horrendous. It was the top selling wig for Halloween 2009, and even for a woman so down and out in her personal life and luck, the hair was mocked around the world. It will be incredibly difficult to describe years from now, so thank god TMZ documented this cultural phenomenon. I can best describe it as an asymmetrical bob in the front, buzzed short in the back, and spiked straight up on the top.
The Beckham Bob. On Victoria Beckham it looked fabulous, but without the proper hair type, a plethora of hair stylists on hand 24/7, and a size 0, there are few people that can pull off this hairstyle. Much like "the Rachel" in the 1990's this stopped almost no amount of housewives and average Jane's from trying. Growing out the bob resulted in a worse result than the cut itself.
The Britney Spears Manic head buzz. Unless you are Demi Moore and getting seven figures to lop off your locks, it is probably best not to shave all your hair off, particularly not at Esther's Hair Salon in Tarzana, California in front of half a dozen cameras. Britney was fortunate enough to have a fairly nice shaped head and beautiful facial features to carry off the bull dyke look, but generally speaking, unless you are certain what you have been hiding under your hair all those years, it is best to opt out of this procedure.
The Rihanna. Sort of the Beckham Bob, but different, the Rihanna had the same repercussions as the BB and also required the poise and facial features required for the Britney Buzz.
Hair extensions. Black people have had them for years, only they called them weaves. In the past decade white people gave them a fancy name, hair extensions, and charged hundreds of dollars to install and maintain them. It even came to the point where Jessica Simpson and her hairstylist were hawking clip on hair extensions on QVC.
Japanese thermal hair straightening. Much like the book French women don't get fat by reminding white people of something else another ethnicity has that we lack, it led to people forking over as much as $900and sitting in a hair salon for 8 hours to attain kind of straight hair for about 6 weeks, until your roots grow back in.
The crop circle. Some people think Kanye West made an ass out of himself at the 2009 VMA awards for interrupting singer Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, I believe it was just to deflect from this utterly retarded hairstyle. I have to think that he won the last man standing contest the night before and his friends did it to him and posted the photos on facebook. There is no reason, ever, any man or woman should cut their hair like this. This made Vanilla Ice's eyebrows seem reasonable.
Bump it. Are you fucking serious? This piece of junk made me miss the Flowbee Haircutting System . Why would I ever want to look like THIS??
The Gotti. Guidos all across the tri state area sported this hairstyle that wikipedia best describes as: vertically spiked hair with copious amounts of gel. It is rarely sported without the accompanying fake bake tan, popped up collar, and tight t-shirt.
