New York aka Tiffany Pollard is a very flamboyant woman who received her spin-off fame from Flavor Flav's Flavor of Love with her own show, I Love New York where she looked for love. After two seasons, she found her love (or did she?), and then she spun another web of a show where she tried to find her own stardom in Hollywood. Thus, naming the show, New York Goes to Hollywood. One of the worse parts of the show was when she rehearsed for a part in a show in front of influential people in the acting business. When she presented her resume/video to them and acted out her lines, she went backstage and never came back out. The managers thought she had nerve and they left. Just like in NY, LA is all about time and money. Shouldn't she know this?
A show that I watched diligently because I am in college for business is, I Want To Work For Diddy. I have respect for Diddy considering I followed most of his career and climb to the top of his own little world. And wanting to have someone work side by side with him, gave me an edge that I couldn't stop watching. One of the worst moments on this show was not the twelve people who had to compete against each other to get the crown of Diddy's assistant since this was the prize of the show. I watched an episode when two contestants were dismissed at the same time. The guy named Boris could not get along with Kendra and the judges took this as a poor clarity of teamwork. They couldn't get along from the beginning and it was sad to see both of them exit at the same time because they allowed their emotions to get in the way.
I loved to watch the show Wipe Out. With crazy goofs for capturing the $50,000 prize, several contestants went through an 80's version of "adult Double Dare" and literally held on for dear life as they leapt, crawled and tried not to fall in muddy waters. One of the funniest and worst moments was seeing a poor guy who thinks break dancing his way down a slide is going to make him win the third obstacle. Wrong! Spinning on his back does not cut it when you're sliding on a slide filled with soapy water and oversized inflatable beach toys.
America's Got Talent was a show that I watched, because I wanted to see what America's real views on talent were. Anything I hear on the radio lets me know that just about anything goes and I am sick of it already. However, there were some really great acts on this show, and then again, there were some really bad ones. What stood out to me was watching these twins called Indiggo who sang this song denouncing George Clooney. I cannot tell you till this very day a word that they said and they had the nerve to get angry at the judges. If you watched the show, you would know that there is an American Idol cloned judge of Simon on there named Pierce. But I actually like his bluntness.
The last of the shows I couldn't help to watch is The Real Housewives of Atlanta. This show features philanthropic women (or are they?) from Atlanta, or transplanted there due to the lifestyle of the African-American's rich and famous. Although there is one woman on there who is Caucasian. Well, the cameras go into the lives of these women, how they live so rich be it their own money, spouse's or for some, ex-spouse. One of them even had a secret lover. The worst moment on this show and I actually felt sorry for the woman because I liked her best out of the entire group was NeNe. She was personally invited to a birthday from another woman on the show named Sheree. My girl decked herself out in a little black dress made by Dolce and Gabana and had on the fiercest stilettos. I did not know that these two women had some "hidden beef" because when NeNe approached the door of Sheree's home where the party was at, her name was not on the party list. Not only that, Sheree knew this was going on outside and never came outside to apologize, but sends her gopher publicist (why she has one I do not know, she doesn't do anything), and they still do not let her in the party! NeNe did leave with her friend Kim, who ironically is not her friend anymore since she has now started hanging tough with yes you guessed it, Sheree.
Another moment on this particular show that I thought was absolutely flabbergasting was to see Sheree start a clothing line. Nothing wrong with that, but if one cannot sew or sketch, then it may or may not work. She pays these "designers" to design her first round of pieces for the line only to find a bag left of cheap renditions of her original designs on her doorstep. Think clearance rack at the ten dollar store. Absolutely dreadful! To top it off, Sheree, I will give it to her, she continued with her party that night to introduce her new line, only thing is she had extra large poster size billboards of her sketches adorned throughout the party. Did I mention that she had male models for the party airbrushed from head to toe?
I hope 2009 brings in some real reality TV shows but I guess this is how some people are "really" living!
