My First Troubling Experience with the Shipping Company DHL
I'll admit it that when I first started receiving packages that were shipped through DHL, the employees were not any different than those of other shipping companies. But, as time went on things began to change. The first thing I noticed was the rush of these employees and their unfriendly nature. Now I know these people are on a tight schedule, but even employees of UPS take the time to offer a friendly hello. DHL is quite different. The drivers for DHL shove packages into your hands and seem greatly annoyed at the time it takes for you to sign for your shipment. I could live with these unpleasant circumstances, but lies I cannot live with. A few weeks before Christmas, I had a package that was supposed to arrive. I waited at home the day. I had tracked the package and knew the time that DHL ran, but the package didn't come. I checked the website to see a message stating that DHL had attempted to deliver the package, but the recipient wasn't at home and the package would be redelivered on Monday. I cannot begin to explain how irritated I was. The package not arriving was one thing and I could have lived with it being late, but to lie and say that they had attempted to deliver the package when they obviously hadn't was the beginning of my hatred for this shipping company.
My Second Troubling Experience with the Shipping Company DHL
I had found the perfect gift for mother at Amazon. I ordered it and had it shipped to her home. While tracking the package I found out that the package was being shipped to me. Amazon's website had, had a glitch which caused the shipping address to be changed back to the address of the buyer. I contacted Amazon who told me the problem was easy to fix. All I would need to do would be to contact DHL and the shipping company could have the package rerouted to my mother. Amazon told me that I needed to do this that they couldn't. Okay, that was simple enough. I called DHL and was told that I could not reroute the package. They told me that would be like trying to get a purchase refunded to your credit card when you hadn't purchased the item. This is when I wanted to reach through the phone and smack the guy. I tried to explain to him that I had ordered the package from Amazon. That I had paid for the item, but it was useless. I had to call Amazon back and have them call DHL. Amazon again explained that DHL should have been able to do this for me and they couldn't understand what was going on. Maybe it was just holiday stress, but to not complete a simple task like that was just too much for me.
Unfortunately, I never know when a package may be shipped through this shipping company. I am an Amazon Prime member and Amazon chooses the fastest shipping company available. Honestly, I'd rather wait than deal with this shipping company again. I've been luckily lately and my packages have been shipped through UPS. If you have the choice, DO NOT choose this shipping company. DHL is the shipping company from Hell and should be avoided at all costs.

Post a CommentIf you think DHL Domestic sucks Try the international version.
why not UPS? They're great for my r shipments for my business overseas.
This is nothing ! We are in the LCD HDTV selling business, and started using DHL to save on Shipping costs.
Guess what ?? Even after Signature Confirmmation required, some TVs never made it to the customers. In a couple of instances, the delivery people were brazen enough to Fake-sign and steal TVs.
What did DHL do when we complained ?? NOTHING.
We ate the loss and switched over to FEDEX ...Expensive: Yes. Lost TVs: No
DHL is filled with a bunch of crooks, from top to bottom ! Period.
I just got so frustrated with DHL that I googled, "What's the worst shipping company?" and guess what popps out first. Complaint on DHL.
The same exact thing happened to me yesterday - I was waiting for a VERY VERY VERY important enevlope yesterday to be delievered by DHL. I waited and tracked it all day - to my horror at 3:52 the delivery status showed up that I was not at home. WHAT A LIE - Not only was I home, I was most likely in the driveway getting my son off the school bus ! After several phone calls to the local DHL DEMANDING that my package be delivered, the driver showed up at 6:16 - he told me he coded that status because he needed to be in another town for a pick-up at a business! I am MORE THEN FURIOUS with this company ! SAY NO TO DHL ! I can not stand to be LIED to !
I have never herd of this company. I remeber all the stress you went though though.. Yeck. Great article idea..
I had a similar experience with DHL-- I don't understand how these people can stay in business. Great article, Amy-- thanks for sharing your story.
That's terrible Amy. It's a conspiracy! I have one with UPS that I don't want to talk about or my eyes will begin to violently twitch again. And this happened to me three years ago.I bet everyone has a horror story. You should start a series. Great article. Bye
You sound very frustrated. I too have had unfortunate experiences with this company. I live at 501 xxx St. and we constantly get packages for 501 xxx Rd. which is several miles away. One time, after I sent the package away, it returned the next day and when I tried to send it away again, DHL wanted me to prove that I was not the person to whom the package was addressed. (NOW REALLY!) Then, the delivery man demanded that I call the DHL office and talk to them about this and was really put out when I refused. When he finally left with the package, angry, he sat in the truck in front of my house long enough that I was starting to feel uncomfortable. So like you, I would say this is one inept company.
