1. Álex Rodríguez: Well, no big surprise here this is just one of those obvious picks. Not much to worry, about here. Unless some Red Sox fan like myself go and break his leg. This man is guaranteed to get you 115 Runs, 40 HR, and 120 RBI even during a bad year. On a good year he could give you what he gave fantasy owners last year a 143 Runs, 54 HR, 156 RBI season. If you get him at any position I would take him. Unless, you are a Red Sox fan. Can you take that on your conscious to take a hated Yankee like A-Rod? Well, I know I can't. Worth It!
2. Hanley Ramírez: This kid has risen so much in just two years. He has gone from a hopeful late round pick to top 20. Finally this year he is getting predicted in the top 3. I think this kid is ready to slide back into the season he had two years ago. The reason I say this is the offense has gotten weaker with Miguel Cabrera leaving town. That will lower Ramirez's amount of runs he scores. I predict that he gets 120 runs, 20 HR, 75 RBI, and 50 stolen bases. That just isn't worth a second overall pick. Yes, I do think he is a healthy player and I would pick him in the top ten. But, I don't believe he is any better than Jimmy Rollins or Jose Reyes, who are two shortstops that are getting ranked lower in the draft. Not Worth it!
3. Jose Reyes: I know many people were disappointed with Reyes last year. But, he still had a good year. This year I think he will rebound. My prediction is if (and it is a big if) he can stay healthy. He will put up numbers of 120 runs, 12 HR, 75 RBI, and 70 stolen bases. Even if he hits poorly he can almost put up those numbers because he is at the top of a dangerous Mets lineup. My feeling is he will probably get a ten to fifteen game injury spell like he has the last couple of years. I like Rollins then Reyes and finally Ramirez in terms of shortstops. I just don't like Reyes at Top 3. Not worth it!
4. Albert Pujols: This man is a beast and he is consistent. He will put up 120 runs, 40 HR, and 120 RBI. The numbers would be higher, but there is no offense to help him out. I think he is completely worth it considering that the chances of him crashing on you are very low probably the lowest after A-Rod. Gosh, I hate saying his name. Worth it!
5. David Wright: I never saw such a pretty hitter that didn't put up monster numbers. He will get his usual numbers 110 runs, 25 HR, and 110 RBI . Saying that those are pretty solid numbers all around. The numbers are deceptive in their value for fantasy elite. Those are top five numbers because there is no weak spot. He hits around .320 and he even steals about 25 bases a year. Now that is the complete package. Plus, I actually, like this New York third baseman. Worth it!
6. Chase Utley: This player could have won the MVP award last year if he didn't get injured. Even so I'm not completely sold on Utley. I don't think he can put up 130 runs and 130 RBI again this year. I do think he will put up 115 runs, 25 HR and 115 RBI. Those are good numbers I know, but a lot of people expect the first set of numbers I told you. I love that Utley plays second base. The position is so thin and therefore enhances his value even more. I do think this player is worth it. Just don't start thinking he can put up MVP numbers again. Worth it!
7. Matt Holliday: He had a great year last year. But, I think his numbers may be going down this year. My guess is this year he will probably be in the middle of what he has produced the last two years. I think an owner will get 120 runs, 35 HR and 120 RBI. Worth it!
8. Miguel Cabrera: This guy is very similar to David Wright. He puts up solid numbers year in and year out. Bur, my opinion is that they will improve slightly this year because he now has a great offense surrounding him. I expect 110 runs, 30 HR, 120 RBI. Unfortunately, the man doesn't steal any bases, but that is his only weakness compared to David Wright. He is always healthy so there is no injury risk. This decision is a no-brainer. Worth it!
9. Jimmy Rollins: Did you here that last year's NL MVP is getting ranked number ninth? Well, it's really not a big surprise to me. The problem with Rollins in many people's opinion is he doesn't bring that big bat to the table. But, for a man that is going to produce 130 runs. No one will give you as good of power numbers as Rollins other than A-Rod. Rollins will give owners 130 runs, 25 HR, 90 RBI, and 40 stolen bases. Those are good numbers considering Rollins just doesn't get hurt and when he does he fights through the pain. I know most people don't like Rollins this high, but I disagree. Worth it!
10. Johan Santana: I love Santana for his consistency. Other pitchers did catch him though last year and those were named Beckett, Peavy, Sabathia, Webb, Bedard. The only pitcher that has put up numbers similar to Santana for two years in a row is Brandon Webb. I think they both will put up the same numbers again this year and probably one or two of those other pitchers above will keep pace with them. I think Santana will probably put up 20 wins, 3.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. Those are good numbers but, there are too many other good pitchers available. I just don't want to take him a round earlier than Brandon Webb. I believe if he gets to the second round than I take him, but not in the first round. Not Worth it!
