Today, people can no longer imagine a time where airplanes did not exist. Airplanes are now a huge part of our lives, and the experience is as common as riding a bicycle. Let us travel back in time to the days when the Wright brothers first thought of their invention.
On December 17 in the year 1903, Orville and Wilber Wright successfully flew the first controlled, powered, and heavier than air - airplane. This is considered as one of the greatest inventions in American history, and one of the greatest inventions of all time.
The Wright brothers had been very successful in creating a machine that would finally accomplish what man has ever dreamed of-to fly. They probably have gone through countless failures and mistakes, but this is what makes an invention so great. It allows the inventor to refine his skills and ideas, making him go through the tedious search for his discovery. This was very true of the Wright brothers.
The Wright brother's vocation as mechanics gave them the skill and knowledge about what was needed to create a machine that could sustain flight. They perfected the design of a bicycle and proved to themselves that they, too, can provide sufficient power to an aircraft with the mechanics of control and balance. This led them to the idea of creating an airplane.
Before the Wright brothers invented the airplane, they spent their time in research. They worked in their bicycle shop that they made into a laboratory. Gliders and unmanned aircraft were the first things that they used to refine their theories and designs. It took them a while to finally put it all together, leading to the first flight on December 17, 1903. It was Orville Wright who was accounted for that first flight. Wilbur Wright was the one who flew the fourth and last flight at about twelve o'clock. The distance covered by that flight was said to be eight hundred and fifty-two feet in fifty-nine seconds.
The Wright brothers have truly achieved the dream for mankind. A huge industry was created through their discovery, and now, man can fly to any part of the world. They have proved that flying is possible through the world's greatest creation-the airplane.

Post a CommentWhile stationed at an Air Force Base,we visited the museum. In that museum it was stated the the Wright Brothers did NOT invent the airplane. The true inventors were The Gonzalez Brothers from California. Yet, I am having a hard time finding any info of their existence. hmmm
