It has been an interesting start to "The X Factor's" Boot Camp number one. 162 acts have made it through to boot camp.
Singers age 12 and up, solo acts, and groups. After boot camp only 100 acts will remain in Los Angeles to compete.
Every day people will be sent home until only 32 acts remain: 8 boys, 8 girls, 8 over 30's, and 8 groups. Then they will be put through boot camp. Then the whole dynamic changes when those people are given one judge to rate them on who stays, and who goes home.
Experts from the music industry also weigh in with the judges - everyone from vocal coaches, stylists, and choreography. The boot campers were put through dance because Simon Cowell said they need to be an all-around star.
Before boot camp the acts were told to prepare a song worthy of winning the competition. 60 acts will be cut in boot camp number one. Some won't make it to the next level of boot camp.
100 acts remaining went on to enter day 2 of boot camp. The challenge for day two was putting everyone into groups/ensembles where they will be given a song and have to prepare to sing it in three or four minutes. The music industry experts come in here to get them ready for their performance.
I like that the songs are chosen by the judges because we get a better grouping of songs. One third of this entire group will be sent home. Luckily they were actually given five hours to prepare the entire performance. Not enough time, but better than a couple of hours. This shows who is serious and can memorize and just plain out sing.
Standouts: Drew, Audrey Turner (Ike Turner's ex-girlfriend), Elaine Gibbs, Caitlin Koch, Melanie Omaro, Cari Fletcher, Dani Knights (wow), Lauren Ashley, James Kenney, Tiger Budbill, Josh Krajcik, Chesi Spriggs, Tiah Tolliver, De'Quan Allen, Rachel Crow, Hayley, and Ellona Santiago.
As you can see there is a lot going on with the show and it's actually been fun watching! Who were your favorites? Leave your thoughts in the comments section.
Tomorrow the final 32 are revealed and split in to four categories as the judges go to in to battle. Each judge will be assigned a category and the real competition begins!
