"I have a vision. I see a woman..."

On July 25th, the next epiphany in The X-Files revelation is poised to enlighten your psyche, inform your intellect, and, maybe - just maybe, release unrequited love into your heart. The "truth is out there" and that Truth's 2008 revelation, "The X Files - I Want to Believe," will be released in theater's July 25, 2008.

"The X Files - I Want to Believe" official site is http://www.xfiles.com . The "About the Film" tab provides you with The Story, The Cast, Filmmakers, and Gallery. Other tabs include "Trailers & Video," "Downloads," "Widgets," and "Blogs." There also is an X-Files Chat, a ringtone for your cell, and a "Fan Forecast Contest."

"The X Files - I Want to Believe" is well beyond just summer entertainment or a repackaged sequel. Quite possibly, it may infuse the disconnect of 2008 with the optimistic insight of the 1990's to engender a collective mindset and commitment sufficient for propelling us into the next decade of the 21st Century.

"I have a vision...they're out there...."

The anthropology of The X-Files concept is inclusive. The sociology of The X-Files storyline is universal. The eschatology of The X-Files resolution is coming.

The X-Files Anthropology
The genesis of The X-Files is a science fiction (sci-fi) television series first airing September, 10 1993. The X-Files TV series was grounded by pithy axioms. These overtly cautionary and covertly foreboding mantras soon became attitudinal, behavioral, and moral touchstones. "The Truth Is Out There", "Trust No One", "I Want to Believe," et al. morphed into a pop culture phenom.

The X-Files contributed to, underscored, and intensified major underlying themes of the 1990's. These X-File themes became drivers for believing, thinking, and acting. The more enduring and pervasive of these themes include: the potential for the existence of extraterrestrial life, the resurgence of spirituality, the escalation of paranormal events, the proliferation of conspiracy theories, and an overriding mistrust of governments.

The X-Files TV series ended May 19, 2002. However, the deeply embedded themes openly prevalent in the society, culture, and peoples of the 1990's remain engrained - and unresolved - in the America psyche yet today, at the end of the first decade of the 21st Century.

Indeed, The X-Files embodies a study of human beings through time and space in relation to physical character, environmental and social relations, and culture.

The X-Files Sociology
The actors engaging these themes are FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). Mulder's role is "the believer" who has faith in the veracity and reality of extraterrestrial life, spirituality, paranormalcy, and conspiracy. Scully's role is "the skeptic" who is empirically driven to challenge all that Mulder believes. In these two characters, the point and counterpoint of humankind's ages-old quest for understanding and the meaning of Life are personified and played out.

Inevitably, the intense interplay and personal closeness between Mulder and Scully - created through their joint quest - elevates their relationship beyond the limitations of believer v. skeptic. Over time, both agents become drawn into a larger reflection on the exact and potential nature of their ambiguous and enigmatic relationship. Was it only professional? If more than platonic, could the believer, Mulder, and the skeptic, Scully, ever act on their shared romantic reality?

The penultimate question: Will Mulder finally bed Scully?

Indeed, The X-Files embodies a study of the development, structure, interaction, and collective behavior of organized groups of humans - and individual humans relating one to the other.

The X-Files Eschatology
The popularity of TV's "The X-Files" peaked toward the end of the 1990's. There was a feature film, "The X Files," in 1998. The X-Files, in concept and impact, is notable and exceptional.

The X-Files is the longest-running American TV sci-fi series, ever. TV Guide has deemed it the second greatest cult TV show, ever, being surpassed only by Star Trek. It has been honored in many "Best of the Best" lists, accolades, and awards.

Yet, the concept of The X-Files remains open, incomplete. The storyline of The X-Files remains open, unconcluded. The resolution of The X-Files remains open, to speculation, to theory, to hope.

On July 25th, the storyline will birth its latest epiphany. On July 25th, many questions may be answered. On July 25th, THE X-Files relationship may be consummated.

Do you believe?

I can't wait to see it. I do think that the marketing has been terrible, though. The trailers look unappealing. But, I'll go see it because I'm an X-Files geek and I have to.
