The Yankee Candle Company has come out with some new cosmetics in the form of lip balm. At first look, these tiny cosmetics may be mistaken for tiny candles, as happened to me when a coworker eyed a tube of the lip balm on my desk at work! I laughed and asked her how long she thought a candle that size would burn?

This was an understandable mistake as the little lip balm containers look like tiny renditions of The Yankee Candle Company's large 22oz. Housewarmer jar candles. The 'jar' on my desk was less than 3" tall including its removable lid!

How to open Yankee's Candles New Lip Balms

When you pick up a little Yankee Candle lip balm it appears to be one solid piece and requires some thought as to how you might open it. That is, unless you are one that does not mind reading the label where you will find that all that is necessary to open the lip balm is to 'twist and pull' the top off! In some cases, you may need to remove part of the plastic label that is taped over the two adjoining pieces.

Once you remove the tiny lid, simply twist the bottom of the 'jar' to raise the lip balm up above the jar's lid for application.

Why Buy Yankee's Candles New Lip Balms?

The Yankee Candle Company's new lip balms contain a Sun Protection Factor of 15 to filter out 92% of the sun's UVB rays. (http://www.dermatology.about.com)

The lip balms also are made with beeswax, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic hemp seed oil, vitamin E and rosemary to nourish and moisturize lips making them softer and smoother. Wear them as a foundation under lipstick or on their own!

Yankee Candle Company's new lip balms are available in 5 flavors: Black Cherry, Butter Cream, Sweet Strawberry, Vanilla Cupcake, and Vanilla Lime! They all contain SPF15, and smell great like their respective glass jar candles. According to the Yankee Candle website they also 'taste' great!

Yankee's Candles New Lip Balms Taste, Smell, and Feel Good!

While I personally wouldn't recommend eating this wax in bulk, I can attest that licking one's lips once the balm is applied is okay. I've been using Yankee's Black Cherry flavored lip balm and enjoy the smelling the cherry scent for as long as its applied!

When one YC lip balm user applied the Vanilla Lime flavored lip balm and her companion leaned into her to smell it, the comment 'You smell like a daiquiri!' was heard! This gave me the idea that it could be beneficial and enticing to wear the Vanilla Lime flavor of YC lip balm when out on a date!

Not sticky, waxy or gummy, Yankee Candle's new lip balms have been compared to Burt's Bees in texture and its lip-smoothing quality!

I also found that applying my Black Cherry flavored lip balm at a time when I'm craving sweets will help me curtail actually eating a sweet for some time! Thus wearing the lip balm might help assist one in sticking with a diet!

The Price of Yankee's Candles New Lip Balms

Yankee Candle's new Lip Balms with SPF 15 range in price from $2.99 to $3.99.

well I feel like an idiot! I had been digging my finger around the plastic in the middle thinking, "Why on earth would they put a 'fake' wick in here?" ...thanks to this I finally realized it's like every other chapstick. *Sigh* I need to get my head checked. Now I love it even more!

You may need to peel off some of the plastic label to unblock the seam so it can twist it up.

To raise it up you just twist the bottom to the right.

I bought the lip balm too. It's hard to open. I had to take out a plyer and twist it open that way. Other than the fact that it's hard to open, I love it.

I bought the Sweet Strawberry lip balm, and love it, but can't figure out how to get the lip balm to raise up. Any one out there have any ideas about that?
