Introduction
I am writing about the Scranton Wilkes-Barre (SWB) Yankees for a variety of reasons. I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, I have been a baseball fan all my life and I love the game. As a matter of fact, some of the most enjoyable evenings in my life where spent watching the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees at the stadium. As a writer for that Yahoo Contributor Network, promoting the local area and the SWB Yankees has been one of my primary objectives. I have pointed out that these Yankees are an exceptional value, and that this is especially true when they offer special promotions. I e-mailed the Yankees my articles and they began emphasizing their promotions in the local press. This Fourth of July the SWB Yankees are offering one of their best promotions ever.

How to Enjoy the Game
I have always enjoyed live baseball, both as a player and as a spectator. Please allow me to share how I get so much enjoyment out of watching a live baseball game. Hopefully, others will be able to get more enjoyment and appreciation from the game.
You really must be at the stadium to appreciate the effort and the athleticism that goes into a baseball game. Baseball does not televise well, so every play looks so routine, and yet at the stadium these same plays look so challenging. This is especially true of minor league baseball games where these young players are hustling to make it to the major leagues. When one looks at the outfield, you realize that it is a very vast area for three outfielders to cover. This is especially true of center field. To be an outfielder, one must react to the ball in a split second, judge where the ball is going to land, and then race to that area to make the play. The infield is even more demanding. The catcher takes a beating behind the plate and must keep his head in the game by calling the pitches for his pitchers and managing his defense, making sure his defenders are lined up in the proper areas. Third base is a very challenging position. The hitter must really smash the ball for it to wind up at third base, and that is why they call it the hot corner. Trying to field a ball when it has been hit out of a cannon is very challenging. Then consider the shortstop and the vast area he must cover. He needs quick reactions, great speed, and a reliable glove to play this position. Second base is also very challenging, as the second baseman must execute double plays while the opposing players are barreling into them. Pitching and hitting is a science all of its own. The pitcher is 90 feet from home plate and must throw the ball into a small strike zone, and throw it so fast that the hitter cannot get his bat on the ball. Hitting is also very difficult. The ball reaches home plate so quickly that the hitter only has a split second to decide if he wants to swing.
