The Year Isn't Over yet

Half the year gone
So much undone
Plans that were drawn
I let them go, one by one

Life always happens
I get chartered off course
Won't worry about the "could have been"s
Some things can't be forced

I thought that I'd write a book
Finish my screenplay no matter how long it took
Make an impact on the world as a whole
Write a blog that reveals the depths of my soul
I thought my path would be clear
My "To Do" list was all set
I really thought this would be my year
But wait, the year isn't over yet...

Half the year left
So much to do
Time may have committed theft
But I won't let it spoil my view

Outlook still positive
I'm not giving in
So much more to give
I'll go till it wears me thin

I thought that I'd be a reliable source
Write a memoir about the repercussions of divorce
Create collages and start a greeting card line
Write a cooking blog and critique the best wines
I thought my life would be easy to steer
That I'd be in it - to win it: game, point, set
I really thought that this would be my year
Oh phew, the year isn't over yet

I want to feel close to those I love
I want to believe in the heavens above
I want to stand at the alter and say, "I do."
I want to be sure of myself and my truth

I thought that I'd have a song on the radio
I thought that I'd have more money than what I owe
Visit some place rooted in my family's history
Solve one of life's many mysteries
I thought my creativity would have its grand premiere
That on the future, I could place a safe bet
I really thought this would be my year
But I thank my lucky stars, the year isn't over yet...
