The New Year's Eve Fireworks Display in London

The Best New Year's Eve Fireworks Display in the World

Michelle Radowich
Great news! The new Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has committed to continuing the magnificent new year's eve firework display from the London Eye in Jubilee Gardens. World famous pyrotechnician Christophe Berthonneau will create his magic from the base of the 500 foot tall London landmark and from barges on the Thames river. It is predicted that the new year's eve fireworks display will be visible from most of central London, but the rule of thumb is if you can see the eye you can see the fireworks.

Carrying on the annual tradition of new year's eve firework display's in London started by the last Mayor Ken Livingstone, Boris Johnson hopes that this spectacular fireworks display will once again confirm that London is the place to be on new year's eve. This 10 minute display will start at 11.50 on new year's eve, with the grand finally at the stroke of midnight. Though the fireworks will be visible from most of central London, the best views will be from the Victoria Embankment, the South Bank, Westminster and Waterloo bridges. All of these London areas have a wide selection of restaurants and bars to celebrate new year's eve while you are waiting for the fireworks to start. Eat, drink and be merry, but don't forget the time!

As always driving in central London is difficult, but no new years eve it is going to be even harder. With an estimated 1,000,000 people expected to be in or around the area parking will be at a premium. If you do decide to travel by car then the closest car parks are at the underground car park in Waterloo Station and Coin Street NCP in Lambeth. The best alternative is to take public transport and on new year's eve in London the tube and buses run all night. With all tube and buses free after 11.45 this is not only the wise choice but also the cheapest. The closest tube stations to the Jubilee Gardens is the Waterloo tube and the Lambeth north tube.

If you are in London this new year's eve don't miss this magnificent display as you will be kicking yourself the next day. If you can't make it to London for the new year's eve celebrations then they will be broadcast live on the BBC. Either way enjoy yourself and have a great new year's eve.

Is there a top ten of the New Year Celebrations (NYC) most stunning fireworks displays and who took the top crown this year? Was it Sydney? for colour, content, noise, chorography, finesse and style or did London take the top crown this year. I went to Las Vegas for 2010 New Year Celebrations (NYC) but I do not think they would take the top crown this year. What about New Zealand? 3rd perhaps?
