The New Year's Greatest Gift

Harry Gunawan
The city of rain
to you I have to blame.
Please don't spill your grief
for your selfish relief.

Fireworks are such a treat
but not for these soaking feet.
Please just melt our chilling beat
instead of burning our green field.

What had said and done
only from nothing to none.
Please open this year
and bring us no more to fear

The Old Mighty One
to You we always implore.
Please deliver us
from whom You choose to ignore

Oh The Old Mighty One;
Please remind us that
hope is always be the greatest gift
to come along in years.
