The New York Boat Show Rings In the New Year

Escape the winter blues and ring in the New Year at the 102nd annual New York National Boat held at the Jacob Javits Center (35th Street & 11th Avenue) in New York City. From Saturday, December 30, 2006, through Sunday, January 7, 2007, the world¡¯s longest running boat show will offer more than 1,000 boats on display including luxury and cruising yachts, sport fishers, bass boats, performance boats, personal water craft, pontoon boats, and inflatables. Also, boating enthusiasts can check out boat engines, marine accessories, electronics and fishing equipment, nautical gifts and apparel. In addition, some area conservation groups and other nonprofits will have information about their programming available for interested parties.

This family friendly show offers many water related activities for all ages including: The IGX Adrenaline Jam, a 17-screen variety of interactive water sport video games for kids of all ages featuring the latest in game technology; The Power Boat Docking Challenge where participants can race against the clock to win great prizes in a radio-controlled boat docking game; The Coconut Climb, a palm tree, coconut-climbing paradise; Turtle Races (January 2, 6 and 7 only); Live freshwater fishing demonstrations from atop an impressive 40¡¯ long, 4,000 gallon Fetch-n-Fish Tank, Informative Fishing & Boating Seminars, and the I ¢¾ Boating exhibit that focuses on local waterways in the tri-state area. Also, Allstate Insurance will be providing free life jackets for kids on both weekends of the show (while supplies last).

Monday - Friday (January 1-5) noon - 8 p.m.

Ticket Prices
Adults: $15; Youth: 13-15 $8 (with adult admission); Children 12 and under are free with adult admission, On January 2, Baby Boomers 55 and older can celebrate their youth with a special $8 ¡°Boomer¡± ticket (ID required).
Special Two-Day Discounted Ticket: $25; Group Rates Available: $12 each for groups of 10-30; $10 each for groups over 30. Elite Fleet Club ticket (including Youth and Children 12 and under) with special VIP lounge privileges, free drink coupon and snacks, cash bar, commemorative souvenir, free massage and free coat check; One-day Membership $50 online or $55 at the Show; Two-day membership $90 online or $95 at the Show.
