Is Diane Alive or is Sky Tormenting Adam Over His Plot to Get Even with the Newmans?
Phyllis questions Ashley and Nick about what Ronan told her about the two of them and their behavior the night of Diane's murder. Just as Ashley and Nick are about to 'fess up" to Phyllis Abby phones Ashley in crisis mode and Ashley leaves Nick to tell Phyllis what happened.
Back at the jail Adam and Victor are confronted by Ronan with the tape that he has of Adam and Victor talking about Diane's murder. The tape is the conversation that Adam and Nick had about what Diane told Victor about Adam's plan to set him up for her murder. In the tape Adam tells Victor that he must have been in the footbridge too because the conversation happened after he saw Diane alive. Victor as arrogant and majestic as he always is accuses Ronan of being less than a loving son and threatens him with a law suit for recording his and Adam's conversation without their knowledge. He then walks out of Genoa City Jail leaving Adam behind. Ronan tells Adam that he has enough to hold him for questioning and that he intends to do just that.
Adam tells Heather how Ronan is holding him and Heather goes to Ronan and tells him that he should let Adam go because he does not have enough evidence and to hold Adam without such will only jeopardize the state's case later on. Ronan listen to Heather and tells Adam he can walk.
Nick tells Phyllis about his call to Ashley and about the threats from the person that retrieved Ashley's' lost phone with Nick's voicemail. Phyllis tells Nick that she will help chorale the person that has been threatening and now blackmailing him. Phyllis comes up with a plan to accompany Nick to the drop-off point per the blackmailer's instructions. Nick thinks that Adam is the culprit and Phyllis plans to record and tape him when Nick goes to drop the money off. Nick tells Phyllis that he is glad to have that secret off his chest and that he hated keeping it from Phyllis. The two lock lips before leaving to set their plan in motion. When the two arrive they are surprised by bright lights in their faces and Ronan and the detective from the State Police questioning what they are trying to hide.
Back at Victoria's Abby, Ashely, Victor and Victoria are all gathered to come up with a strategy for dealing with Ronan after reading the article that Ronan fed to the media about Abby (the Naked Heiress) and the rest of the Newman's. Abby tells them about the discovery of the key, the lockbox and Diane's diary. While there Ronan calls Abby on her cellphone to tell her that the newspaper is willing to public a retraction to the story if she will come clean and tell him what Diane had on her that would make her so nervous about the key he found. Ronan tells them about Victor being at the footbridge and that he will find which one of them did Diane in. After Abby and Ashley leave Victoria confesses to Victor that she gave him an allabye not for him alone but also to protect herself because she was also at the footbridge and that she saw Victor also there that night. Ronan does not tell them that he is holding Phyllis and Nick for questioning.
Adam runs into Heather at the Coffee House and thanks her for helping to extricate him from Ronan's clutches. Adam believing that he is "all that" and that Heather helped him for personal reasons tell him that she was motivated by her career and not his good lucks or congenial personality and that he should tow the line for the next time the rope got loose around his neck, she would not be there to remove the noose. Concerned about the direction of the investigation and the evidence that Heather implied that Ronan had, Adam makes a phone call to a mysterious person telling them he needed to see them pronto. Adam goes to meet this mysterious person he has been calling at the same place where Nick went to meet the blackmailer. Instead he is met and frustrated by a cymbal playing monkey. Adam tells the person who would not show their face that they are playing with fire by releasing pages from the diary.
Ronan and the other detective look at the guilty board he has created and at the pillow evidence before them. They begin to match suspects to quotes on pillows. The pillow that says "Why Yes I Am Evil" equals Adam. The pillow that says "I Am the King" equals Victor and the pillow that says "Girls Just Want to Have Funz" equals Abby. Magically Ronan gets something in his gut that tells him to cut open the pillow about fun and as he almost causes the other detective to have a heart attack, he cuts the pillow open and finds a jump drive stuffed inside.
