The Yuwie Social Networking System

Will Yuwie Make MySpace Obsolete?

Debby Alten
I'm not quite sure if MySpace will ever be obsolete but there are a few other social networking sites popping up on the internet. There's the ever popular FaceBook, we have JoePopular, Blogger could be considered one and also YouTube. Included in this list of social networking sites is the fast-growing Yuwie. It seems to be adding around 2,000 new members each day with a count of 410,000 total users, last I checked. Yuwie's mission is to pay their members for simply being active. Can it be done and how much can the average person actually make?

To begin with let's explore what is meant by "being and staying active," As far as I can tell it means that you get paid for; every page view, writing blog posts and when someone reads that post, uploading pictures, visiting your friends' pages, sending messages, replying to messages and really the list goes on. So in other words everything that one would do on MySpace or even FaceBook, Yuwie is attempting to pay you for. But for all intents and purposes how much of a paycheck can one bring in with all this activity. Well, not a whole lot and payout is $25. Of course, if you are planning to make around $10,000 a month you will need to work on finding at least two people to join you every week. There are plenty of Yuwie members with blogs teaching you the ropes, so to speak, of how to go about this.

Furthermore, for the more seasoned Yuwie user, the secret is already out. Yes, it is true that you need to be an active member of this social network but apparently you must find referrals-others who are willing to join under you. It is suggested you need at least three of those willing participants and they will also need to wrangle up their own referrals for this system to work. Check out this video and it will give you a better insight to how Yuwie essentially functions. The video will give you phenomenal numbers but for the average Joe around $200 to $500 per month would be a more realistic goal. Of course, you might not be the average Joe or Jane.

Is this a pyramid scam? It sounds like it could be but then again, probably not, since you would need to fork over some cash in order for it to be called a scam. Yuwie is free to join which would eliminate the scam factor. You can't lose any money, only your time. But of course, I am sure there will be doubters and many will more than likely stay in the shadows and either wait to see Yuwie fall or perhaps join sometime in the future if it is a success.

One thing we can be sure of is that these social network sites do generate quite enough money from advertising. They just haven't been willing to share with their users. And honestly they don't have to. People are happy to join as it gives everyone a place to socialize online, make both genuine friends and business contacts, stay in touch with family and hundreds (maybe thousands) of bands can reach out and interact with more of their fans.

Yuwie's attempt to share in advertising revenue is noble enough, I guess we shall see if it will sustain the site or bring it down. Google Adsense has jumped off the Yuwie wagon already because, I'm assuming, that sharing in revenues might be against their terms. However, Yuwie has joined the Voxant News Room which pays them $4 for every 1000 views. With thousands of members uploading this news feed one would assume Yuwie is generating a nice amount of money.

In any case, time will tell how successful Yuwie will be. The members are hopeful, the owners are driven and they stay in touch through YRadio. MySpace might be shaking in their online boots, but I doubt it. My opinion is if you are looking to be a part of a social network why not get paid for it? If all else fails, Yuwie is after all, just as good as MySpace.

I am excited about Yuwie's potential. The people there are certainly more out-going than they are on MySpace. I had to go looking for friends on MySpace. On Yuwie, they came to me!

I've jopined Yuwie already but haven't done much with it yet. Perhaps I had better spend some time there and see how it goes.
