TheBalm Two-Timer Mascara - Is it Really Two Timing?

A Product Review

Sarah Afshar
Mascara is a product used to enhance your eyelashes. If you are looking to achieve stunning lashes without needles, drug, or risks, you are destined to not only love mascara, but appreciate it much more so. It is a well known fact that there are an array of amazing mascaras in the beauty world, as there are a variety of crappy ones too.

When shopping at Sephora in NYC, I had the opportunity of discovering TheBalm Two-Timer Mascara. It is a mascara that comes with two individual wands/brushes. What sets this mascara apart from other mascaras is the fact that you can achieve a different look based on the actual wand/brush. One comes in a form of a brush, as one is more on a comb wavelength.

Usually if I see a double ended mascara, I find myself weighing in and out, the pros and cons of the product. I also find myself questioning whether it is worth purchasing. Instead of focusing on what I found that could possibly be rather problematic, I decided to try TheBalm Two-Timer mascara.

PROS

What do you look for in a mascara? If you are anything like me, you are relatively selective. You will use a product if it possesses any of the qualities that define a good mascara (long-lasting, pigmented, volumizing, defining, lengthening, etc) There are a lot of mascaras that tend to exaggerate, however; when it comes to TheBalm Two-Timer Mascara it is truly kept "real". TheBalm Two-Timer Mascara is waterproof, making it incredibly long-lasting. I find that when a mascara is long-lasting, it is unbelievably important. This mascara isn't sticky nor dry and truly refrains from flaking. I also appreciate mascaras that do not clump and create a weird, tar-like build up around the cap. The great news is, that this mascara doesn't do that.

TheBalm Two-Timer Mascara comes with two individual wands/brushes that work fabulous to give you two different looks. The first brush gives you more of a dramatic look, with little effort. This brush creates voluminous lashes that are full and lengthening. If you are looking for something that is efficient, you will love the brush applicator in this mascara. The second brush is more like a thick comb. It allows you to coat your lashes in detail, giving you a look that is more refined. It is more defining than the brush. Although I don't find it as efficient as the brush, it is highly effective. When you use these brushes together, it creates a wonderful effect.

Would you ever use a product that contains parabens? How about sulfates? What about synthetic fragrances or dyes? Would you ever use a product that possesses phthalates? If you answered "no" to any of the questions above, you are going to love TheBalm Two-Timer Mascara, as it is free of all of these. If you are one who appreciates natural products, you will definitely find this mascara appealing.

CONS

TheBalm Two-Timer Mascara is only available in one shade at the present time. The shade is black. If you are looking for any other shade, you are not going to like this mascara.

When using this product, I noticed that despite this mascara having two individual wands/brushes, there wasn't a lot of product to work with. Unlike some other mascaras that do possess a modest amount of product inside the tube (and those mascaras will remain nameless) this product was definitely a little disappointing in that arena.

RATING - 82%

It is by far the best mascara, but it is also by far the worst. You can purchase TheBalm Two-Timer Mascara at Sephora for $20. Would I purchase this mascara again? No, however; I would recommend it to those women looking for a great mascara that works great.
