TheFanNJ is Calling for Jersey City's Mayor to Fire John Jack Kelly

Kelly Come June 8, 2011 Will Fire 106 Municipal Employees to Save $6 Million

When John Jack Kelly made his announcement that he needs to layoff municipal workers, in order to meet the city's budget gap? The leaders of the municipality gave him unmonitored means, plus free will to crash public employment. John Jack Kelly, is using the city's budget concerns to slash jobs leaving lower level workers, to face unemployment compensation. Meaning those that make around $20,000 a year to $80,000 a year will be sent to the Jersey City's one stop center, to seek a weekly check of leads upto $7,000 or range upto $10,000 for a span of 25 weeks, or 52 weeks total.

While the Business Administrator (John "Jack" Kelly), has stated this move will save Jersey City an amount of $6 million dollars! Yet, he was also asking the city of Jersey City to grant him $5 million dollars in an estuary account--which only he can write checks for but the council will have to approve of the account. Thus raising questions from Council representative Steven Fulop, and others of the general public '" as when it came to Public Advocate Omar Dyer's attention. Omar Dyer called for John Jack Kelly to be fired!

Public Advocate Omar Dyer's reasons are: "John "Jack" Kelly, is playing games with people's lives. And to make such a cut without a re-retry plan, or a means of bringing in private business to pick up the tab on employment--where the municipality is laying off people is a disaster waiting to happen. Sending low income families to social services, while giving entitlements to elected leaders will damage the economic structure of the city. It really doesn't save the city any money, by laying people off, then setting up an account and not creating new employment in the private sector for these citizens. My advocacy group has opposed this union busting death panel before, plus there's nothing Mayor Jerramiah Healy can do that can change the climate with out private sponsorship.

We advocated too defeat this back in December of 2010, as I (Omar Dyer) went on a one man campaign protesting Councilman David Donnelly, which came on the notion of these cuts. And 6 months ago, the cuts was 300 municipal employees, where the price range on savings came to be about $5 million dollars. Whereas, Jack Kelly wanted to merge the Jersey City Incinerator Authority, and the Department of Public Works, noting it would save $5 million. I (Omar Dyer) found out that there would be a $10 million dollar savings if they merged it the other way, or did nothing at all. At that point in time, Jersey City Council President Peter Brennan made a statement, "Jersey City is working hard on trying to make ends meet." (Yes, an elected leader said that) "And because of the snow, we are $1 million dollars in the whole, thus these layoffs need to happen;" stated the president of Jersey City's council. And in an off topic chat but in the same meeting, where he thought he was off the record, Peter Brennan stated: "Bill if anyone can come up with something better, they should come forward and show something."

So I (Omar Dyer) made my move, and lobbied congress, advocated for the State Senator's Majority leader to place the state of New Jersey into a state of an emergency. With all of that work, New Jersey was awarded $20 million from the roads and hazards grant from the Department of Transportation and FEMA. Jersey City, New Jersey was awarded $1.3 million in funds to save jobs, and hire that advocate. Mayor Jerramiah Healy then awarded the grant to Jersey City's Incinerator Authority, thus this move saved the jobs they were going to cut.

That was then but this is now, and John Jack Kelly is wrong for Jersey City. And this blog is asking for the Mayor of Jersey City in Jerramiah Healy to fire: John Jack Kelly, and hire Omar Dyer. Omar Dyer has demonstrated that he knows how to help the people, will keep the people in his best interest. He has demonstrated that he can bring corporate interest to the city, and has shown that he would be a true cheerleader for Jersey City NJ. Under this blog, TheFanNJ is advocating for Omar Dyer to replace John "Jack" Kelly. Omar Dyer has a state license in business management; is notary public, has handled government budgets and been on economic conferences with members of congress, and on the state level. He has a B.A. in communications, and a Masters in Legal Studies. So knowing the laws and standards for business and government, nobody comes close to his credentials. Jersey City needs a person like Omar Dyer to run their business affairs, and that's something the city has been missing in 15 years. It's time to do promote from within the city, to show the people that the city is inspired by good working people.
