A woman using the fitting room at Macy's at Oakland Mall had her wallet stolen from her purse when she stepped out of the fitting room to check her appearance. She noticed the theft almost immediately, and also noticed a woman leaving another stall. Without taking time to change out of the Macy's clothing she was trying on, she followed the woman to as close to the exit as she could without setting off alarms because of her still wearing the store's merchandise. She was only able to give Troy police a description.
It is unfortunate that a person cannot even try on clothes without being a victim of theft. It can certainly take the enjoyment out of a shopping excursion. It is hoped the thief will be caught and prosecuted. If you have any information about this incident, contact the Troy Police Department.
