There are some great ideas for throwing a great theme party about the beach at home. If you want to throw a beach themed party at home, you can require everyone to wear beach clothes, have beach related music going through the area and decorate with umbrellas, beach chairs, blankets and towels on the ground. You can even spread sand out to make it look authentic. Be creative with your layout and with the decorations.
Begin the theme-based party with the invitations. You can have them in the shape of something from the beach like palm trees or a ship on the ocean. There are so many scrapbooking options available today you can be very creative. You could even hand-deliver a unique invitation that will not fit in an envelope like a coconut with a message etched in it.
Make sure that you indicate a dress code of either bathing suits or shorts and beach tops for your more shy guests, and flip-flops. This will enforce the theme of a beach party.
For your outside decorations, local party stores or online stores will have inflatable palm trees and surfboards if you do not have your own. Place umbrellas and seashells around. Have sand on the ground or at strategic sites that give the feel of being at the beach. Make the party area feel like you are in a tropical atmosphere.
Now we come to the food. Tropical drinks wither with or without alcohol should have little umbrellas for the glass and a large punch bowl with fruit punch and sliced fruit floating in it. If you decide to make it a barbeque, you can roast pork or have roasted pork already pulled with pineapple on the side for sandwiches to give the feeling of a Hawaiian luau. Chips and dip are a great snack at any party. Fruit kabobs are another treat your guests are sure to enjoy and remember.
Take your guests back to the days when the Beach Boys and B-52 were the popular beach party entertainment, have their music playing in the background. You might also have some ocean waves and sea gulls crying on another stereo to make your party feel even more authentic. You could have a television on with the sound turned down paying Beach Blanket Bingo or a Gidget show at the beach playing.
If you have the room, start a volleyball tournament, have plenty of beach balls blown up and pass them around during the party. A fun game of limbo on the sand is always a great game that played on the beach. Playing games that you take to the beach and adapting them however you can to your own backyard will leave lasting memories of fun not only back then but great memories of a great party at your house.
